I'm just going to use the titanium 225 welder as the example for this. It was, and still is, $300. The coupon they had was 10% off any item for everyone, and 20% off for ITC. So welder is $270 for all, and $240 for ITC. ITC is $30 a year, so if you are buying that welder, just get ITC for free at the $270 price, heck it's slightly less because ITC is not taxed, so you save $30 on tax.
OK, so what is this today? Well, you can get it for the $240 with the 20% off welder coupons, no ITC required. You can get another $15 off if you buy ITC, and you can ask about getting two years for $45. Pretty much as long as you make 1-2 more decently pricy purchases, you will recoup your cost.
Now if you want to avoid the temptation of trying to maximize your ITC value, then just do the 20% and keep holding out to only buy what you truly need for what you are working on soon, or now. They know anyone who has ITC will definetely shop there more often, so it helps a ton for them while increasing the stuff you have hoarded where you live (hope your neighborhood is awesome and you never need to move). The second thing to remember, is they screwed you weeks ago as an ITC member, because you paid what non members will this week for that same welder.
I totally think I could recoup more than the ITC membership right now, but something tells me black Friday is going to be banging like it's 2018 again. They increased production massively for the pent up demand, and now people are holding back purchases because things like foor and rent have taken priority while their hours are being cut, or they lost their job, in this slowdown no one wants to admit is happening. So, I won't be getting that ITC or any tools today. I'm betting if I did, I would just regret it since I won't want to buy the same thing twice on black friday, week, month whatever they will be doing. You can tell they are getting desperate when ever sale is being extended and includes crap they don't want to discount like ICON.
