Add me to those who have had a good experience with an Ember customer service matter. My charging saucer stopped working because one of the little metal tabs got stuck in a recessed position. They had me take a picture and then sent a new charging pad right away.
Perhaps I got a crappy rep then. Glad it worked out for you

I hate that the temperature only goes to 145 F (and that also is 145 only at the bottom and slightly cooler at the top). My drink is around 160-180 F when poured. I've stopped using mine and instead use a Yeti, which keeps the temperature close to the initial temperature for at least a couple of hours. I wish they would come up with a model that goes to slightly higher temperatures.

Always wanted something like this for work, but then like late in life I discovered those metal insulated bottles and I've been using that to keep stuff both ice cold or burn my mouth hot. They can be had for like $13 on amazon.

Just as FYI for any possible alternatives...though I'm super ppl with these are happy, it's quite expensive, requires power, etc. and that bottle you can take on the go and use for cold ffwiw.

$50 for a used cup that someone drank out of or pissed in?? Wow someone is definitely laughing all the way to the bank on all the money they made on this from dumb "consumers" lol

I been holding out for a long time for this deal and I'm ready to bite the bullet. My use case for this is that when I'm working, I'm sipping coffee, but always hated it getting lukewarm. I was going to buy a knockoff version, but I didn't want to spoil my experience with a potentially bad product. I also didn't want to pay over a hundred for this also.

For my travel needs, Yeti has proven to be above expectations. On a hot summer Chicago day, I was drinking ice coffee. I left my Yeti in the car the whole day until next. The ice still remained even after the blazing heat of being in the car. I don't see Ember replacing Yeti on the travel department, but the normal mug appears brilliant. Hopefully this will meet my expectations.

I bought one brand new a few months ago b/c I had best buy rewards to use. It's good if you drink your coffee black without any creamer. The constant heat curdles the dairy. I like the factor of having a consistent temperature, but I wouldn't spent the $ on it again as I don't personally value that feature as much.

At first, I thought the idea of this was quite gimmicky but when winter approached I found myself drinking my coffee faster than usual. That's when I looked into this but turned off by the price. After purchasing my first 16oz on sale, I've been using it since and with regularity.

It's nice always having the perfect coffee temp, regardless of how fast or slow I am drinking. Depending on how busy I am, sip speed changes.

Ive recently gotten into drinking cappuccino and moka brew, so the espresso size will be a great addition.

…another thing to charge.

Dang you are right, I bought as soon as this is posted, before reading comments. I checked, and first gen 14oz is 60 min battery life for the cup itself, vs. 80 min for the gen 2. Once dead, either one takes 2 hrs to charge, so I guess the second gen also charges a bit faster since it has a 33% higher capacity.

I think I would have rather saved $20, I think the 14oz gen 1 ember for $36 is the slickest deal of the list...
Agreed. I've been using an OG 14oz one for years now, still works great. I use it for tea.

You can just slowly sip your tea, for hours if you like, and it's always at the perfect temperature. Such a different experience from taking a few tentative sips while trying not to scald your mouth, then when it's at the correct temperature quickly drinking it down before it gets cold.

No need for extra battery life if you generally use it at your desk; just leave it on the wireless charging saucer.

I've had one for more than a year. All I can say is it is good to have, but extremely unnecessary. A double wall vacuum sealed coffee mug with a lid can serve the same purpose to keep your coffee warm for an extended time but costs far less.

I got one as a holiday party gift from my work. I've used it 20-30 times. I don't drink coffee at all, which made it an interesting gift to go to me. Good for hot cocoa though.

It's solid, works and charges on it's base.

I'd never buy it and I'd have gladly put the $100+ dollars to much better use if given the option.

For hardcore coffee people, I could see it, but for me, not so much.

I bought 3 brand new for xmas, 1 for myself, and 2 as gifts. The one i got didn't last more than a week before i would keep resetting itself. None of the troubleshooting on Ember's website would fix the issue, and it took Ember Customer Support 10 weeks to respond to my initial email (and they asked me to do all the troubleshooting steps on their website which i had stated in my email that i had already done). Then it took them another 2 weeks to respond, and they asked for the S/N of the mug (which again was in the first email). I ended up giving up with them. Since then the 2 i bought as gifts have failed aswell. This is probably why they have so many refurbs.

Thanks for the info! Anyone else have any thoughts on the General one or General two?

these have batteries that are not replaceable. I had one and the battery failed after about a year or so. My fancy mug became a cheap mug that didnt insulate well. Great idea, but craptastic design with the battery. buyer be ware given these are refurbished and likely have some use cycles on the battery
