Non-owners always have a LOT to say about these – and believe me, I get it, I swore up and down I never wanted or needed one of these things. I got one as a gift two years ago and I would unequivocally say I would buy myself one now and have given a few as gifts. They just WORK and are perfect for a slow coffee drinker, like myself. For the record, I only opened the app once, I don't need to futz with temps after one setting.
My main tip, though: do not waste your time/money/coffee on anything less than the 14 ounce, the 10 ounce is just TOO little.
In my experience the warranty isn't the best. Have the Mug2 and lid broke when I pressed it in after a few months. Had to practically beg for them to do a one time exception and send me a replacement after sending pictures and videos of broken lid. Still had receipt and within 1 year of ownership.
The Gen 2 has a button on the bottom, you hold it down and it turns off.
Pro tip for my ember fam, buy a small pack of rubber coated baby spoons to stir your coffee.
Never use a regular spoon as it will chip the coating.
I don't think mine works. Started with coffee this morning, and it alerted me when my temperature was ready. It had to cool down to 140. Now, all it has done is drop in temperature…..it's 130, 129, 128, 127…..just drops and doesn't increase at all. The white light is pulsating too.
I have one and it is fine. Great if you drink it without dairy creamer. But dairy will develop a film on top. It is still drinkable, but kinda gross texture wise if you drink the film. Just scoop it off and it is fine.
I'm a slow drinker. Got it and don't use it. I just use a thermos travel mug. Easier to toss in the dishwasher and no need to charge.
Came on here to ask the same thing. I brew an Aeropress every morning around 730 and don't end up finishing it until around noon because of how busy my mornings are. Any significant difference between the Ember and a standard insulated mug? My mugs (double walled, lid) keep my coffee at least warm until I'm done.
It's so funny to wake up to this deal alert notification, because my beloved mug has had about half of the inner bottom coating come off so I contacted support. Literally right before we went to sleep last night I told my wife that they'd replied that since it was out of warranty, the best they could offer me would be a mug-only replacement (no charger) for $100.
I think I'll go with this instead. 😅
Is anyone else here seriously NOT concerned about drinking the inevitable metal (ie chemicals) peeling chips inside the bottom mug?? I never even stirred anything as I drink my coffee black. I went through one mug and as much as I LOVED it, I love my health more and sold the quick replacement they sent me. Seemingly very aware of this potential safety issue??

Don't stir or wash with anything abrasive. Get a silicone or wooden spoon or don't scrape the edges while stirring. I had the v1 since 2017 or 2018. It looks brand new still.
The coating is food grade ceramic. But if mine was peeling I'd stop using it.

I am still enjoying mine as well, probably >10 cups of coffee w/ it since I got it, the constant temp without burning the coffee is GREAT! I do like that it cools to drinking temp quickly and then stays there vs. a well insulated cup!
Regarding the app issues I (and many others) had, it did indeed seem to be an Android thing. I updated it first try with an iPad (which looks to have added a couple of presets, not sure if anything else), and now it is working with the Android phone just fine.
This might actually be worth the MSRP (if I had that kind of money to burn on stuff like this), definitely happy with it paying $60ish. I do with I had gotten one of the metallic ones before they sold out though.
