It is essentially a 23% discount. So, if diapers are more than 23% cheaper at Sams, then thats the better deal.

Sam's currently has a sale. It is about $0.2384 for newborn pampers. Target is about $0.3214/diaper. Sams is about 25.82% cheaper, so you would still be better off buying from Sams.

So targets diapers on known brands like pampers swaddlers we felt were somehow better than Sam's club's Pampers Swaddlers which were a bit on the rough side. Maybe that's personal opinion and findings. YMMV.

I think your math is off, I got .213, you should buy wipes to make it 100ish, do not order 3 boxes!

His math is solid, you're just approaching it another way.

The deal is basically spend $130, get $30 off. And $30 of $130 is 23%.

Yes, you've gotta optimize it on different items. But if you're able to perfectly optimize it and spend exactly $100 to get the $30, and spend no more when you use the $30, it comes out to a 23% savings. It's a solid objective way to quantify it.

Not sure where you get 130, I brought $100 and got $30 back for 2 box of diapers and 1 box of wipe. You don't have to spend 130.. to get this deal.

I didn't say you needed to spend $130 to get the gift card. You do, however, need to spend $130 (at least) to fully realize this deal, unless you collect unused Target gift cards and frame them or something.

You spend $100 on visit 1 and save nothing. You spend $30 on visit 2 and save $30. Alas, you've spent $130 and saved $30.

You didnt get $30 back, you got a $30 giftcard that you can use on future purchases. At the end of the day, you still spent $100.

But this rationale misses one important element: Target runs a promotion similar to this often. Currently I have a $15 gift card in my target account from August 22nd when they had a $15GC for $75 purchase. And when I made THAT purchase I used a $20 GC from a promotion in July that gave $20GC for $100 purchase.

Not sure how you will calculate this into the equation, but if you're buying diapers monthly like a lot of us are, you can expect to keep using the GC credit towards another purchase which will net you a GC.

Is that if you pampers? What if you buy up and up brand

I dont know, you can look at it. My response was to someone who was asking if this deal made it cheaper than Sams Club. I used Pampers because that is what both sell. But the math logic still applies, it doesnt matter what brand, just the price per diaper. Also, dont use the price per box because there may not be the same amount of diapers per box. Sams Club had more diapers per box than Target, which is why you need to use the price per diaper.

Glad you said this because I was thinking the same thing but wasn't sure. I recently switched over to Costco diapers and noticed my baby is constantly getting diaper rash. So I'm going back to paying a bit more at target.
