I have a fitness/hybrid bike that could use some new pedals.

Would these work? I don't do any offroading, so not sure if pedals designed for Mountain Biking would work in my case.

If this is a serious question, the answer is because mountain bikes are typically not ridden on roads with cars at night. The proper community safety device for most mountain bikes is a bell.

I also want to just use these on a beater around-town bike with regular sneakers.
Are these pedals appropriate or does one need special shoes?

Mountain Bike shoes have rubber soles like Five-Ten branded shoes that catch on to the screws to have a good foot-to-bike grip.

If using regular athletic shoes with these pedals, it might destroy the bottom rubber.

Also, and more importantly, with regular shoes, when there is a pedal slip with these pedals; the screws would then strike against the leg calf.

I wouldn't do it. The pins will shred the soles of your shoes pretty quickly. Not before leaving some serious scars in your shins though.

My bike make cracking noise when pedaling. Will this pedals fix the problem ?
Maybe, maybe not! Who knows??? It's a fun game of "find the creaking noise" that literally every mtn biker has encountered at some point. Could be: Pedals, crank, bb, seat/post, frame, headset, etc. Probably ~75% of the time it's the pedals, as the bearings/bushings are tiny and usually the first point of failure. But honestly it could be a lot of different things.

Tempted to buy these to reminisce on the early to mid-00s. Dave, Jonas, Richard doing race support out of an old bread truck, camping out at Plattekill.... Good times.

$9.69 shipping for me, so I can get Fookers cheaper. Unless someone can chime in as to why this pedal is massively superior in some respect...I'm not running the bill up to $100 just for free shipping. I'm a biker on a Slickdeal budget.
FYI, if you buy multiple, the shipping only goes up a tiny amount.

I can buy 7 pair and the shipping is less than a dollar more than the shipping on 1 pair (after 7 pair you hit $100 and shipping is free). So if you have use for multiple pair, it is again cheaper than fookers.

My only concern with the fookers is that you just don't know about the quality control. I haven't had a problem with them, but there's always the fear in the back of your head that an axle could just snap on a landing and lead to a bad crash. Especially on a new pair that you haven't yet stress tested with a bunch of riding.

Buying from a real brand ensures a bit more QC as they actually have to accept some liability and reputational harm if their pedals are junk. For a couple extra bucks it seems like an easy choice.

In for one, been needing new pedals. This + shipping is the same price as shitty pedals on Amazon so I figured it's worth a shot.

Got a couple pairs too, my current mt bikes have terrible pedals so these will do nicely. Thanks!

Good deal. I've seen these in the wild and they seem totally equivalent to Chesters. The plastic doesn't look quite as nice but that's probably just cosmetic. These also have a design that places a couple of the pins closer to the middle of the pedal, which might actually be a minor improvement for some riders.

Just a heads up for those thinking of these for non-MTB uses: in addition to the sharp pins, 10x11cm is pretty large for an all-purpose pedal (though not large by MTB standards). This is not a huge deal and they will do the job. But be aware they might feel a little bulky on an around-town bike, or if you have small feet.
