The latest S2 pickups's are made in the US.. These are overseas origin. One of the way they kept the S2 price down.
The newest S2's are $2k+
While saying the newer us made ones are better is kinda true, that's not to take away from the previous S2's pickups. I don't think PRS makes a bad pickup, regardless of origin.

This is definitely a stripped down PRS. The hardware and pickups are imported, but its made, assembled and set up in Maryland.

Its a good price to get into a USA PRS to see if you like them, but fair warning, the resale value on them is pretty bad. I'd had one listed on Craigslist and Facebook for $900 for a year, and have only gotten tire kickers so far.

Like others have said, the electronics are import yes, but the quality of the guitar is top notch! I have a 2015 and its the most reliable rock solid bridge out of all the floating bridge guitars i have. Fret work was perfect and still is today, neck never moves or needs adjustment. I swapped out the pickups long ago, and this is easily my fav now.
