I can tell you that best bang for the buck on this card is when using to book hotels through https://www.aadvantageh
I solely use that for hotel booking, foregoing any Hotel points through credit cards.
The average three night stay, if you book through the URL above may offer something like 300 AA Miles for a booking.
When you use this credit card, it jumps up to like 7500 miles vs 300.
I was in Scottsdale last week and stayed at a Hampton Inn for three nights. Payout was 10,000 miles.
This year alone, took my wife and kids to Universal Orlando and NYC, for free aside from the $11 processing fees.
That too requires some planning, but it was/is a great card for me.
so it essentially gives you ~10% back in points when booking through aadvantagehotels right?

It's very simple you do NOT need to pay using AA card you just NeEd to make sure your card is properly linked to your AA advantage account ans profile. Wen your logged into your AA account on your app you will see something that says AAdvantage credit card holder no miles expiry etc. That means the AA profile is tied and regardless how or what you oay with you get the same Priority and Bag benefits per the card terms. HTH
also MOST IMPORTANT the primary account making the booking MUst be under who the booking is under doesn't need to be paid usinf AA citi card.
I hadn't used my AA points yet. Are they likely to be taken away since I wouldn't have met the spend requirement without that charge?
