(When viewing the quarterly categories outside of logging in to chase.com, it says info coming soon. However, when logging in to credit card and viewing the details link next to where it shows current categories....see 2nd screenshot I have here.............it shows all the year's categories, including the above Q4 list, which I've attached as pic #1 here.)

Push purchases to PayPal for three months. Walmart.com takes PayPal, as well as most online vendors other than Amazon.

If you haven't hit your $1500 maximum by the end of the quarter, send money to yourself or a family member using PayPal. There's a 2.9% + $0.30 transaction fee, so you pocket 2%.

Edit: I like another posters idea of making a quarterly tax payment using PayPal. 2% fee, pocket 3%. Plus, no risk of it being categorized as a cash advance. https://www.payusatax.com/

You'll get it back with your tax refund.
OP, is this is for Freedom and Freedom Flex cards only? if so, might want to change to "select Chase Freedom cardholders."

This is one of the stranger groups of Chase categories I've seen.
Last years Q4 had Costco and PayPal.

5% cash back of Discover at Amazon is for stuff sold by Amazon not from 3rd parties. With Amazon gift cards, you can buy any stuff at Amazon with 5% off.

That's not true. Anything from Amazon regardless sold by Amazon or 3rd party. It's considered "Amazon"

Anyone else having issues with vendors not allowing you to choose with card to use with PayPal? There used to be an option to choose but now most of the time when you choose to pay it just makes you sign in and doesn't let you choose any options at all. I even made my Chase card my "preferred" card in PayPal and it still used my balance as well as my Amex card for the transaction. 😡

Note that this is generally not a PayPal issue, but a vendor/merchant issue. For example, 6 months ago you made a payment to your electric company using PayPal using your Amex, but your vendor in that situation sets up PayPal as a payment method attaching also the card that you used. Any future payments to that merchant with PayPal will go straight to that card. It is similar to setting up direct debit with a merchant using PayPal; every payment period PayPal will just charge the same card. Some merchants like utility companies set up PayPal this same way even though you are intending to only do a one-time payment (I assume because they provide the option for an automatic debit so everything is lumped together).

Having said all that, the solution is to go to the vendor/merchant site under your account and removing PayPal as a payment option. Once PayPal is removed you would then select it again which should provide you with the option to select a credit card (note that the same thing above will happen and that credit card will continue to be used in the future no matter what your PayPal preferred card is). Not a great solution and you just have to remember to remove and re-add PayPal with a different card in these situations (e.g. Discover has PayPal as a bonus in a future quarter and you now want to use Discover with that merchant).

I encountered that when I did ubereats. I had to remove PayPal as payment then add again to choose which card to use via PayPal. It's just pain in the ass to do so tho.

Got an alert today that my Freedom card is automatically getting converted to Freedom Unlimited and that we are losing 5% quarterly categories. Is this for everyone? Can I ask them not to?
Did you contact Chase and get an answer on this? I've had my Freedom card since before 5% categories were a thing and have never gotten that alert. Frankly I wish they would. When I first got my Freedom card it was 2% cash back on everything across the board. The 5% categories were a huge downgrade. Looking at Freedom Unlimited, 1.5% on everything, 3% restaurants/drug stores, and 5% travel through chase travel sounds really appealing.
