Pro Tip: You can save money by dropping 2 of these pills into a regular half gallon milk to create lactose-free milk, which is $2-3 cheaper than buying it. You just need to give it a few days for the enzyme to do the work.
Lactose Intolerance often gets worse over time gradually and naturally. It also tends to show up in most Americans/Western European adults sometime between your late teens and early 30s and tends to be very subtle at first (e.g. feeling slightly uncomfortable after having dairy products). If your body can no longer produce the lactase enzyme that breaks down dairy, there's nothing you can do to "restart" that, so it's pretty doubtful that taking these regularly would make lactose intolerance any "worse" than how it would naturally progress.... Regardless, these pills (which are simply lactase in pill form) are a really mild and inexpensive way for lots of people to enjoy dairy products, and this is an excellent price for them.
But over time, I became heavily dependent on them. What I didn't realize was that this reliance was actually worsening my lactose intolerance. Now, even the smallest trace of dairy makes me sick, and I've lost all my natural tolerance.
I'm sharing this as a cautionary tale: if you decide to use lactase pills, please do so sparingly. Continue to build and maintain your body's natural tolerance, or you might find yourself feeling worse in the long run. Remember, everyone's experience is different, and this is just mine.

One other "lactard" friend and I ripped through them over those 2 weeks and I let her keep what was left. After I got home, I found that my intolerance had somehow gotten drastically worse. Small amounts of smoked cheese that I could somewhat tolerate before became no laughing matter.
