They're not, I work at CVS and make these. They print directly onto the "magnet paper".

Did they change from last year? Last year it was definitely just stuck onto a magnet sheet (and crooked at that). Maybe varies by location?

Just picked one up. Can confirm it was printed photo stuck on magnet. Not bad for a $1 though.

Can confirm it's a photo and magnet stuck together (the magnet has the adhesive). I know this because when I went to pick up, the photo print was waiting and the employee took a magnet out, peeling off the layer revealing the adhesive, and applied the photo over the top right there in front of me.
Looks great and well aligned, but the part about being separate pieces stuck together is absolutely true and if that causes peeling/separation in the future, this product will be susceptible.

My experience was identical. Although I got a notification stating my order was ready, I was told by the employee that too many orders go uncollected so they do not assemble the magnets until the customer arrives for collection.
