This is a really good seat. You don't know what you are missing until you get a rotating seat.
What is the benefit of having the rotating seat? It seems like it would only be really useful if you have different kids of different sizes swapping out. Otherwise it seems like it would be a one-time switch.
Am I missing something? Or is that the point (like in a carpool-type situation)?

While not extreme difficult to use a front facing car seat that doesn't' rotate, nobody can argue it's easier to use one.
It is easier to put a kid in a seat directly facing the door, then when secured you turn the seat 90 degrees. There is no reaching over blind spots as you are facing the seat directly.

The seat swivels 360 degrees. It is much easier to load the child facing towards you and then rotating the seat to lock it either facing forwards or backwards. This is even more useful if you have a smaller sedan like us (Model 3) where space is a bit tight.
We also looked at that seat prior to this one but the NHTSA launched an investigation concerning the harness detaching from it's base in the event of an accident after complains filed by owners. There isn't a recall issued yet but the investigation is still in progress. Because of this, we decided on this seat instead.
