This is the DW model, not the DWF. The DWF model (currently on sale at Best Buy) has firmware update options, this one does not. That's important because the DW has horribly capped HDR brightness and the DWF update uncaps it.
Thank you for this.

I picked up the LG 39" OLED with the 800R curvature and love it. However, not sure if 34" is too small for that experience. The 800R is quite agrresive and a larger area display makes the immersiveness more appealing. I was also debating between 34 and 39" and glad I went with 39". The PPI is not an issue for me for non gaming content as I sit back 2 feet.
I have the LG 39 as well and a 4k 32 inch. Let me tell you as long as you sit far back from the 39 inch you will be fine.

No HDMI 2.1? Dang Frown
Yeah it's truly amazing how they cheap out on ports for a display that cost this much.

Please don't spread misinformation. The DW firmware is able to be updated. I have done so myself. Here is a link to the firmware update. https://www.dell.com/support/home...dw-monitor

You can also search on Google for "AW3423DW firmware update". Do note there is no F.

I love this monitor so much I bought my gf one a year after I bought mine. I've update the firmware on mine fine, just read instructions n ur good. I did get burn in after a long time of static image wallpaper n not doing maintenance but Dell shipped me one under warranty, wasn't a hassle at all.

Truly ignorant on this subject. Please don't read this as confrontational.

Can you elaborate how that would affect the performance of this display? I was under the impression 2.1 was mainly a benefit in 8k display because of the 48GBps bandwidth.

The monitor is spec'd with DP 1.4 and runs 175hz at extended 1440p resolution. Shouldn't that connector and that HZ rate be the defining requirement for the monitor?

Looking at this, the MSI MAG341CQP, and Samsung Odyssey G85SB. If price are similar for all 3, which one would be the best choice?

To the best of my knowledge the people interested in HDMI 2.1 are looking to use monitors with consoles since they only have HDMI ports. For PC gamers it's not an issue as every graphics card had DisplayPort.

Thank you. I guess that's where my confusion on the subject stemmed. I wasn't considering this from any other perspective than a PC application.

The best monitor I've ever used. Single handedly made me believe in hdr. The aw3423dwf has worse hdr than this one. However the dwf does hace upgradable firmware. But it's been years and the hdr is still crap in comparison because it loses the gsync module. I'd by the dw 10 times out of 10 over the dwf. Buy this you won't regret it!

Personally on the warranty alone, I got the Dell/Alienware.
