Anyone have any thoughts on this deal for occasional use around the house? Is it worth buying or will this take up space?

Get one of the Ryobi Airstrike tools. Excellent for occasional house hold use and no need to lug a compressor.

I'd say get the metabo for $39 when on sale at lowes, those things are bullet proof.

I just recently got the metabo 15 guage and the 18 guage and couldn't be happier. The battery powered ones are just too heavy to use for me and 4-5x the price.

Having to pull out the compressor sucks, but it's nice having the lighter tool when doing trim work or hanging a door etc.

For comparison, Harbor Freight has an 18 gauge nailer plus stapler for $30 every day without coupons.

HFT model has way more reviews and I'd actually prefer their warranty/return policy - if you get a dud or your nail gun breaks after a few uses, just bring it back to the store and grab a new one.

Porter Cable is a low-mid tier brand anyways and I can't see their reputation or quality setting them apart unless this is a particularly coveted tool.

I have this not sure how the build quality has changed, but mine is going on 20 years. Used it nearly a hundred times. Very reliable.

I've used my dad's in a number of projects. It's going on 20-30 years as well. Great tool.

As others mentioned, I bought the harbor freight one for $30 (every day price) and it worked great on the one project I needed it for. This is a fine price but it's not a deal.

One could just lug a hose.

I have both a Porter cable model and a Harbor Freight model. No comparison! Porter Cable is much better. Seems a great deal for me. Been a great and much used tool since I got in 2003. Only had the HF one for about a year. I hope that helps.

I have had the PC pneumatic 18g brad and 16g nailer for many years, and never a problem, ever. I also have a PC compressor that works like a champ. Not sure how the quality is these days

Me too. Got them with a pancake compressor here on SD's in Feb 2006. Compressor, Stapler, Brad and finish nail gun $139 on Amazon (I checked my files). Great tools.
Good point about the quality - may be very different from 18 years ago!
