Yes you will need a compressor. The next best thing to get if you don't want to go the pneumatic route is to get a battery operated one

3 gal husky baby compressor for $49 on sale if you aren't doing much. Easy to haul around.

Battery powered ones will cost at least 2x more. The lower end ones are more likely to jam.

I own this brad nailer and it has worked every last time I have needed it.
I am not a contractor but I do plenty of DIY home projects and this tool has been great.
