Awesome watch. I have a few king turtles and they're a joy to wear. You'd think they'd be oversized, but with the lug to lug, they're great on both a NATO or the bracelet. If I had a complaint it would be that Seiko needs to get with it on how you size these bracelets. Once you get it, they're super secure, but pins and collars are a pain to size the first time.

Picked up the SRPF79 for under 300 recently from Greentoe - no issues and price was a steal

Seiko bracelets are low quality at this watch range but uncle seiko straps are excellent for $40.

I got the green grenade for $288. A Strapcode oyster and you're in business.

Are those bands just higher quality? Do the feel nicer?

Thanks OP, I'm in search of a decent watch to use daily. My Tudor Prince Tiger green face started to gain over 20 minutes in 24 hours, it it has to go in for service. Service starts at $500, which makes watches like this very appealing.

A big boy at 45mm. Better have a 7.5"+ wrist size and like the oversized dive watch look.

Great entry level diver.
The next upgrade would be this https://youtu.be/PqqUDilUwAk
And this is the highest quality dive watch that money can buy https://youtu.be/Ev3eEGjQVUQ

My Seiko 5 Sports is on its last legs after 15+ years of abuse. I understand something like this is a step up from that, but I'm also considering an Orient Mako 3 which has similar specs (but I like the Mako's case and dial more). Any thoughts?

This is a solid deal. Only would be cautious with seikos horrible quality control

Yup!

LoL, running joke in the watch community is that you know you got a legit Seiko if the bezel, chapter ring, etc is misal.

LoL, I think half of mine half some sort of alignment issues.

Excellent deal. I would probably get the cheaper green one instead, bc the bracelet isn't anything to write home about. Also, the Seiko rubber straps punch way above the price.

Sounds like your watch may be magnetized. A cheap demagnetizer may be all you need.

Sadly you have to be careful with Seiko. Buy one made in Japan and you have a very high value proposition. Not so for this model which has a Japanese made movement and then was assembled/manufactured in the cheapest possible place.
