Ah, good point. Some detailed reviews as well saying it's a 1.5. B&H also lists a V2 (versus "Version 2" as it's called here) at the normal $229 price (https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/pr...3l_v2.html) , whereas this Version 2 they also are selling a charcoal version of (which Peak Design does not seem to make in V2, switching to black instead). So evidence definitely points to it not being a real V2.

I just checked the reviews for this on B&H's site and even though the reviews are old (2020) many people are saying they received either a v1 or a v1.5. All the B&H employees that responded to the questions claim it's a v2.

This is the updated version of version one that added a luggage pass through and made some other minor updates like a larger tablet slot and magnets in more places. Not the complete redesign that Peak Design now calls version 2.

I don't know if PD called these version 2, but retailers [pitmanphotosupply.com]and reviewers [nandakusumadi.com] called them V2 to differentiate from the ones without luggage passthrough. And then when the current version came out, PD called those version 2 and made it confusing.

I prefer this design to the current design, and have the 15" V1 in Charcoal but it's bigger than I need with my current laptop, so picked up a 13" in Ashe Grey.

I absolutely love my V1. Had to get it repaired under warranty and they gave me a V2 that I hated - they actually found me a used V1 and sent that to me instead.

So, moral of the story - great company that stands behind their products, but YMMV with the V2 vs V1 question.

Previous owners, is there any chance the 13" laptop pocket will fit the 14" Laptop?

It would depend on the specific laptop. The dimensions for the laptop compartment are listed as 13" x 9" x 1" which should fit a current era Macbook Pro 14"

I've got the old version of the 10L everyday sling, and I need just a little more height for some lenses. Can anybody who has both bags comment on whether this one adds much capacity to the actual lens compartment? The exterior dimensions look pretty close so I'm wondering if the extra 3L is really useful for camera gear or if it's only for the laptop.

Absolutely love their backpacks. I hate their sling bags and sling for the cameras with a passion. The coating on the 15" Messenger bag V1 ended up a black sticky mess, and my guess is the V2 has the same problem. Camera straps also had the same problem and always stained my shirts and it's not an easy stain to get out of your clothes. The straps has also stained my wood floors and even my closet so I would stay away from any of their products that have that strap with black rubbery material coated with something.

This video [youtu.be] briefly shows the V1s side-by-side where the 13" looks an inch or so taller than the sling. The flap gives you more wiggle room than the zip closure of the sling, which is why the specs list two different interior sizes. One is on the tightest latch, the other is on the loosest one. The 13" and 15" are the same height, and I could definitely fit my 70-200 Sigma Sport in my 15". I don't think it would fit vertically with a 70D or R6 attached, though.

Looks like the deal is dead. I have the 15" tan V1 for almost 5 years now and it's still my everyday bag. I'd love to get a 13" one now that my work-issued laptop is 14" pc instead of the old 17" macbook pro. Have been complimented several times for the classic looking of the bag.

I believe they've long corrected for that material problem. I had a strap with the sticky rubber issue and they sent my a brand new one, no problem. The materials post update (2018ish, I believe) no longer deteriorate like before.
