For gaming? An upgrade. Especially at 1080/1440 resolutions. You should notice a significant uplift especially in your 1% lows.

For everything else, probably more of a sidegrade. If you have something that utilizes all 8 cores at once then a downgrade.

If you are a gamer on AM4 and itching for something better IMO it doesn't get any better than the 5800X3D (or 5700X3D). The 5800X3D is still in the top range of CPUs on the benchmark charts and its a super cheap upgrade from previous gen Ryzen. I don't think its worth it at this point to swap out your entire platform to go to AM5. Even the 9xxx series doesn't look terribly compelling.
This has no onboard video.
Still a monster deal

AliExpress has these for $135 before any coupons if you can wait 1.5 weeks. Mine just came in from a seller who has sold thousands. Completely legit CPU according to all ID programs (CPUZ, BIOS, Ryzen Master, Windows, Hardware Info, etc). Gaming benchmarks also match those posted online. Throw a $35 Phantom Spirit on it.
Can you name the seller plz?

I don't think they ever got this low and they're sky-high now.

"SZCPU Store"

I see one for $135 right now, but of course that's before tax. I'm not sure if the $50 savings is worth the gamble for me, honestly.

I have ryzen 3600 and rtx 3070. Not planning on upgrading my gpu since it's doing okay with medium to high settings on all games.
Do you think changing my cpu from ryzen 3600 to 5700x3d would be a good upgrade?

appreciate any valuable input
Yes, you would get quite a bit of an upgrade. It is less lag and a lot more smoother playing.

Also, Aliexpress got this CPU on sale for $135 before the coupon. (no warranty if you buying from Aliexpress). I bought my from NingJing global store (SZCPU) and it ships from Singapore.

It is worth it in my opinion as long as it works. I bought mine last month around the same price and it is working/gaming/benchmarking with no problem. Also, go to bios -30 in the curve optimizer resulting in 15 watts less and 10 degrees Celsius cooler.

Plus, how often does the CPU DOA or Die? Only if you OC or do not have enough cooling.

Is this an upgrade compared to Ryzen 5 5600x I got from ebay deal 1 yr ago?
That entirely depends on how good your GPU is. Considering the X3D is really close to the top of the charts of gaming benchmarks but those benchmarks are always paired with an rtx 4090….. no one ever is running a 4090 with a 5600x.

So let's say you have an rtx 3060 ti, with the 5600x, the X3D won't get you much gain. But if you have a Radeon 7900xt or rtx 4080, THEN you can go X3D and see a great improvement.

Hopefully that makes sense

The real answer is it depends. It depends on the games you play and screen resolution. If you're playing at 4k or 1440p, you're generally GPU limited unless you're playing a CPU-bound game. CPU-bound games are primarily strategy and sim games.

Not really. Just wait next intel or 9k x3d models.

I ordered this CPU from AliExpress for $140 total to upgrade from a 5600x. GPU is a 6800XT.
Not sure how much of an upgrade it will be, but I figured it will be worth it long term?
I should be able to get $80-100 for the 5600x.

For those considering ordering from AE: there are cashback sites with decent offers. Just got to look around.
