Amazon has How Not to Age: The Scientific Approach to Getting Healthier as You Get Older by Michael Greger (Kindle eBook) on sale for $2.99.

Thanks to Deal Hunter phoinix for sharing this deal.

About this book:
  • When Dr. Michael Greger, founder of NutritionFacts.org, dove into the top peer-reviewed anti-aging medical research, he realized that diet could regulate every one of the most promising strategies for combating the effects of aging. We don't need Big Pharma to keep us feeling young—we already have the tools. In How Not to Age, the internationally renowned physician and nutritionist breaks down the science of aging and chronic illness and explains how to help avoid the diseases most commonly encountered in our journeys through life.
  • Physicians have long treated aging as a malady, but getting older does not have to mean getting sicker. There are eleven pathways for aging in our bodies' cells and we can disrupt each of them. Processes like autophagy, the upcycling of unusable junk, can be boosted with spermidine, a compound found in tempeh, mushrooms, and wheat germ. Senescent "zombie" cells that spew inflammation and are linked to many age-related diseases may be cleared in part with quercetin-rich foods like onions, apples, and kale. And we can combat effects of aging without breaking the bank. Why spend a small fortune on vitamin C and nicotinamide facial serums when you can make your own for up to 2,000 times cheaper?
  • Inspired by the dietary and lifestyle patterns of centenarians and residents of "blue zone" regions where people live the longest, Dr. Greger presents simple, accessible, and evidence-based methods to preserve the body functions that keep you feeling youthful, both physically and mentally. Brimming with expertise and actionable takeaways, How Not to Age lays out practical strategies for achieving ultimate longevity.

Yikes. Any "Dr" on youtube is a red flag. Eric Berg is another one. Berg constantly contradicts himself but is not smart enough to even notice it.
Agree on Dr. Berg. He's a snake oil salesman (literally). Dr. Greger is different. He'll sell you a book to fund his non-profit, but he'll also let you watch all the content in video form on his website for free, with no ads. Even his you-tube videos are ad-free. Much more about getting the message out, than making money.

Eating a lot closer to what Dr. Greger recommends has resolved my pre-hypertension, pre-diabetes, and high cholesterol/heart issues, so I'm a believer, and he actually points to all the studies/science he uses. I'm a nerdy engineer, so I checked his work before trying it, so to speak. That was for his "How not to die" book, a precursor to this one (I found the "how not to die" more interesting personally).

Funny enough, I tried Dr. Berg's stuff first, and it accelerated all the above problems, even as I was losing weight.

Changed my life for the better. Just one man's opinion, for whatever that's worth.

He says diabetes can be cured by a plant-based diet. No it can't. Just another YouTube Doctor who preys on people with serious health issues. Of course, he has no problem taking your money while putting a disclaimer on his website to see a real one.
Generally he says that. Specifically for Type-2, if it hasn't progressed to the point that you've killed off most of your insulin producing beta cells in your pancreas. But there are plant foods that can contribute both to diabetes and heart disease too, as he notes (basically anything super high in saturated fat, like coconut oil, as that's the primary driver of insulin resistance, as well as slowly killing off your insulin producing pancreas cells, which over time lowers insulin amount produced).

I thought he was full of crap too, with all the keto/low-carb stuff floating around and that sucked me in for a while, but actually looked up the studies he references and slowly came to align with his view on it. My sister is the polar opposite, doing keto to control her diabetes. And she does control the symptoms mostly, but the actual disease (and tolerance for anything that even remotely raises blood sugar) is continuing to get worse over time. Intolerance to carbs is the disease, and avoiding carbs in favor of more of what causes the disease (saturated fat) doesn't fix it, just masks the biggest symptom.

I'll get off my soapbox now, haha.

Do we really need a book for this?

Eat healthy (avoid excess sugar), get exercise, and avoid tobacco products and alcohol. Manage stress and learn to laugh!

Am I missing anything?

Very very small amounts of people in relation to the population don't or even know how to "eat healthy" If some were like me getting advice about eating skinless chicken or eating fish isn't healthy at all.

You don't need to read this book(didn't even know about this book) but i would atleast watch a few of his youtube videos and learn what causes all these diseases.

Whoever is giving a thumb down to your post, probably doesn`t feel that they need all to stay in shape. lol
But I think you say it all!
Some people have too much time on their hands. Like people watching reviews and unboxing on YouTube when they already own the product for confirmation bias

also how did you add a gif in comments?

Interesting, can you show me some examples of him contradicting himself?

Lots of crazy comments in here. If you like reading about health and nutrition, you'll probably like this guy's book. If you don't, then you won't. Yeah, the title is click-baity, just like his How Not to Die book. Yes, you're still going to age and die. I learned a lot from reading How Not to Die, and I made some changes to my diet that I feel good about. I'm not sure we need to vilify a $3 book. If you don't think you'll like it, it's okay to not buy it.

I can provide a source. His own words from his website. "The balance of evidence suggests that a whole food, plant-based diet may help prevent, treat, slow, and even reverse cancer progression." HE'S WRONG. Cancer has to be removed from your body.
Clearly you are a troll, and have nothing of substance to offer.
