Dang, what a blast from the past. They are made in Taiwan. Anyone licensing their name, are they just paying TeamGroup to make SSDs, or anything like that? Either way, it's probably made by a decent supplier so I'd buy for a cheap PC.

SLC is very surprising, it's probably just referring to the cache though. Doubt we'll ever get one but I'd love to see a teardown and see what controller and brand flash chips it has.

Idk about the name usage, but I'm thinking about throwing this into an external USB gen2.

1TB Portable SSD for around $50-55 doesn't sound too bad.

I bought several crucial mx-500 (1tb) and samsung evo's for $48-52 less than a year ago. Now they average $81-95.

A tiny bit maybe, I wouldn't expect last years pricing anytime soon or even ever again to be honest. Samsung and other chip manufacturers learned their lesson trying to chase a trend, namely pandemic fueled over buying, and purposefully has been under producing so there isnt as much stock

Bothers me that Ritek (https://www.ritek.com/) has no "Support" link for technical issues or firmware updates.

Well, that would fly in the face of typical technology advances. With increasing sizes lower capacities would be less desirable, and would command lower prices. On the other hand companies are still trying to sell a 2tb portable HDD for $60 for about a decade now. So idk. I wouldn't expect much from this drive except for it to be faster than a spinning HDD. It's probably fine to make a batocera drive out of it.

Can't find a spec page. Anyone know if this has DRAM? It seems to be TLC which is good.
