Just to clarify, the OP deal is for the S90D. The S90D on EPP/EDU is $1530, which is NOT cheaper than the OP deal. The S90C on EPP/EDU is $1350, which technically is cheaper, but not the same TV as the OP.

My old sony was having the same issue. I just used a firestick and it works great.
I can't use a firestick as I have a large 7.2.2 sound system with a huge Denon Receiver, etc.

I believe I would need the $200 Nvidia Shield Pro which has the proper connections if I wanted to maintain my quality.

Rather than spend $200 to get another year or so out of the Sony, I might just spend this $1,360 on this new Samsung... #boymath

He wants this tv (or other highly rated tv), but just larger.

He isn't saying this isn't a high rated tv.
Exactly. I have an older 65" so if I'm upgrading I'm going larger.

Either way you should get the shield. Sometimes it drops to a still expensive $150 on BF, but it is worth it. WELL WORTH IT.
(or save your staples sheckles and use some Qs and spend less)

The S90C and this S90D are IMO the best OLEDs for the money on the market. Consider though that miniLED TVs have caught up in a big way over the past couple years. Look at them both side by side, 2024 models of both, they're very close now. If you're an image quality perfectionist, get this TV. If you don't want OLED's issues, a good modern miniLED gets you 80% of the image quality (90% if comparing miniLED to WOLED). I like both, don't bother debating me on this. Go look in stores for yourself and see.

I'm personally torn between a S90D and Bravia 7. The miniLED WILL perform better in a bright room and that's where I like to use TVs, rather than cave settings. But the S90D has slightly better color and is slightly brighter than OLEDs of yesteryear. Also be sure to look at the SDR brightness on an OLED like this vs miniLED, it's double. If brightness is your thing to fight a TV from washing out, miniLEDs are VERY good at this point in the other aspects where they were easy to dismiss before.

Would you rate these higher than the C3/C4s? I'm having a hard time deciding between the 2 brands given the closeness in price for the 65".
I strictly use my OLED in my upstairs game room. Blackout curtains, and I'm usually playing games at night, so the only light in there may be my lamp if anything at all. All streaming and stuff I either watch on the PC in the office, or the living room with my wife.
I've heard the Samsungs have a slightly better picture for gaming, but that the colors while vibrant, appear almost "fake" to many people. Like they're TOO bright and saturated. Also, these QD-OLED seem to have higher chance of burn-in (which a lot of warranty's don't fix) than the WOLEDs of LG. I've had an LG B6 for years, so I'm familiar with their platform, but this will also be my TV for the next 6-8 yrs like the B6 has been for me so far, so I'd like the best possible outcome I can get.

This model Samsung will perform better than that Sony in many areas. Outside of SDR content which is already light blinding I see no advantage.

In terms of color , contrast, technology, viewing angles, I would never choose an LED over an OLED.

While in certain instances it can be brighter, doesn't properly give depth an OLED display delivers. Plus the blooming is my number 1 distraction when watching anything on any led tv. Also at an angle you lose color, contrast, brightness, etc.

Personally I'd go Sony OLED , LG G4, or C4 for savings, even last year Sony OLED would be my choice

Per rtings.com this is a top TV even better than their recommended S90C. Not sure if it will go cheaper for BF, but still solid.

Debating updating my Sony XBRE-65X810C from Feb 2016. The apps are getting so slow even when clearing cache all the time, and I don't feel like paying $200 for a Nvidia Shield Pro. OLED would be a solid update, but I'm not sure if waiting another year or so is the better move (yes, I know technology is always improving, but it's typically at a tic/tock rate).
you'll always be better off with a external stream box / stick than the TV OS. Tizen OS is particularly bad. If the shield pro seems too steep, consider the ONN. It's not quite as fully featured at the shield tv pro, but it does nearly everything google's new TV streamer does for half the cost ($49.99)

I bought the S90C from Samsung for $1,100 and I am very pleased with it. The picture for Football and Movies is amazing especially once you get it dialed in using the YouTube tutorial. The only nitpicks are:

1. The remote is tiny, similar to a firestick, and it is easy to hit one of the preprogramed buttons that launch Disney or Netflix when all you are trying to do is adjust the volume.

2. I did have some blur watching track n field during the Olympics, Something about the bright track and sneakers just couldn't get an ultra clear picture.

3. Not sure if this effects gaming but the "C" only has a 10/100 ethernet card so you get faster speeds with wireless than you do with a network cable.

It boggles my mind, why doesn't samsung support Dolby Vision. I would be all over this, alas, stuck waiting for a Sony deal. It's it so much to ask for a high end qd-oled that supports DV at this price?
Dolby vision doesn't matter almost at all if your tv gets to 1000 nits brightness which this tv easily clears.

It's 95% marketing and you are falling for it.

It is 100% not, but keep thinking that. You know the saying, comparison is the thief of joy?
