The frequently available deal ($250-$270) of Lenovo Ideapad i3-1215U/8GB/256GB appears to be a better 15.6" touchscreen alternative of similar performance in a sense that it has an empty SODIMM slot for RAM upgrade when needed, though smaller 256GB SSD and no backlit/PD charging.

For all the complainers thinking you are buying a $1k machine....it's $250 people. Thats NOTHING. Use it for a few years its plenty you got your money's worth jesuz. Buncha whining crybabies. Entitlement at it's finest.

Looks good to me, except the 8Gb of soldered RAM. For under $300 brand new it can be overlooked.

It wouldn't matter, 8GB isn't enough today and will suck even more in the future. The RAM is soldered so you're stuck with it.

I'll never buy a laptop with soldered RAM again. My $800 HP had soldered RAM, it failed two months out of warranty, HP refused to replace it. It's an $800 paperweight now.

My $250 "Motile" (lol) Walmart laptop had removable memory AND SSD. I upgraded both and have been running it for over 4 years now.

Planned obsolescence.
