As a professional creative writer in the marketing industry for the past 15 years, I could not disagree with your more. This is some of the best, most engaging writing I've read in a while.
I have not read a book in years that pulled me in so deeply and so completely.
You read 1/2 a book and didn't like it, so assume millions of other people are wrong about their opinion on a series. And then have to insult the author in multiple ways b/c you didn't like it. Just find a way to be happy in your life dude....
This is a really great series, I just finished the 3rd book but it's been a wild story that keeps you on the edge of your seat. I would definitely recommend it.

I have no idea why or how this series is so popular. This trust fund baby with mommy connections writes like an adolescent writing fan fiction. I started reading the first book and just couldnt keep going it was written so poorly. I would steer clear and stop supporting clowns that have no idea how to write sci fi but fancy themselves the next Hunger Games or Harry Potter. I mean Harry Potter is written better for gods sake.

Very solid price! I've been meaning to read this although I absolutely hate buying books on Amazon. About 50% of the time they arrive beat up in a box too big with zero padding.

Worst take in the thread. The entire series is incredible.

Couldn't agree more. The first book certainly has some "Hunger Games" parallels and is arguably the weakest of the series but the writing is excellent throughout and the storytelling is engaging throughout the series. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a solid Sci-Fi book series to dive into.

Just want to say, if you all like this series, don't sleep on Will Wight. Cradle series is on fire. Also loving the newer series (Last Horizon).

The only bad part of the series is the incredible plot armor the main character has. I wish the challenges and solutions to them were a little less contrived.

This is one of my favorite series that I have read in quite some time. If you're looking for a sci-fi series that doesn't get too technical, this is the one.

The series is broken into two parts (so far). The first trilogy takes place over a few years and then the second trilogy starts a decade later. The first trilogy is easy to binge read as it is all from the perspective of Darrow. The second trilogy (starting on book 4) breaks up its chapters among several characters' perspectives. Each character has their own story arc that crisses and crosses with other characters you read about.

The wildest part to me in hindsight is how grand the scope of this story becomes. It begins as a novel about hierarchy and rebellion (fueled by love and loss). Society has spread over different planets and moons in our galaxy and has established a color-based society system where people of each color/society class have dedicated roles. Reds are miners, grays are law enforcement, other colors other professions. And above it all are golds. Golds rule everything and are genetically superior to every other color. Darrow, a red, is forced with the decision to rebel against the golds and infiltrate their ranks.

There's love, there's incredible violence, there's scheming, there's just a ton to absorb. But it's never overwhelming. Pierce Brown's writing style is like a movie injected straight into your head.

Enjoy these books early with your own imagination because I can certainly see them becoming a movie series or tv show. It's just a matter of time.

Have you read the Unwind or Scythe series by Shusterman? If not I suggest them. Very good.

This first book is just fine. I read it then took a break before picking up the second book. The second and third book are AWESOME! I could not put it down and started the third right after I finished the second. Highly recommend!

This series started out great and this was an excellent book. Then it kinda fell off the tracks in later books.
