Hard to find available date ranges. I see the blackout dates but not valid ones.

I understand that Qatar's "Q-suites" are the right now considered the golden standard for business class travel however, Eithad's product is right up there as well. Qatar's fleet is newer so looks more fresh but I like the Eithad's hard product as well. Eithad's fleet outside of A350's is a bit older but def worth a look. Def classy and refined! And more importantly the best bang the buck in business class travel and I have flown on both airlines for their business class product. Just my two cents......

Do people (especially the ones on SD) really get that much more value for money for flying Business?

I don't see the $3600 prices from NY to Dubai.

This is actually a great price. Roundtrip! After the Amex "pay with points" 35 percent off this is very comparable to what these would cost for points otherwise (but way easier to book). For me personally, Amex points are alot easier to earn than say, AA points which you would typically be booking qsuites with which you can only MS or replenish on a 48 month timer . (I mean there is also the shopping portal etc.) So that is a great deal actually. Last time I flew to Dubai I think I paid ~100k one way for business with Chase points and I think the cash prices for coach were around$1k. My business class seat which was around 100k points was consistently going for $11000. Price never fluctuated. I checked the price daily for a few months because to get the points availability to load the cash price came up first.

I actually think for most people who can afford to travel to Africa or Dubai, it is probably worth paying for business at these prices.

Doubtful. Smart flyers use points/miles. Business travelers that are expensing it to their company don't care what the cost is. Hence the outrageous prices for Business class.

I tend to take these airfare sales as an opportunity to check if there are any good mileage ticket options (if it's a destination I'm interested in). They don't always correlate but a lot of the time they do.

Maybe I do this with Amex points sometime--never cash. The extra wasted on flights will cover a week trip to the Bahamas and Staniel Cay with my wife.

If inconsistent customer service or I should say terrible service is okay with you then take a chance with Etihad.

Personally I think Qatar's is just as bad , don't get me wrong the hard product , food and service is great but if anything ever goes wrong (irr ops , issues with your ffp account or basically any ticket / service issue you have to resolve with ground staff be prepared for a world of pain and ready to wish you were flying Delta/united/american.

They simply are not empowered to resolve any kind of issue that they don't have written in a manual.

I've had some crazy experiences from them canceling a route , but saying they would not refund me and instead I had to drive to another airport they served 3 hours away to their IT team who is still unable to explain why I can login to my ffp account in my phone but not on any desktop computer.

End rant on Etihad and Qatar

I've had more trouble with US based airlines even when dealing face to face when there's an issue.

Theoretically, wouldn't the mileage redemption rate be really low, for dates where these cheap fares are available?
