How is Turkish airlines? I know it's no Qatar or Emirates level but I am sure it's better than the maggot-infested Air-India.

I have traveled with Turkish airlines very recently, loved it and can recommend it. As per my experience, I felt it to be almost as good as the middle eastern airlines like Etihad and Emirates. Food was delicious, seats comfortable and clean, loads of movies selection. Turkish has partnership with Indigo so make sure that all the flights are Turkish and not Indigo as I have heard some not so good reviews about the latter.

Turkish is a mixed bag. There are several things really consistently bad especially on india routes.

1. Their boarding process is a huge mess. Worse than train boarding in mumbai when boarding in istambul.
2. Customer service is downright disgrace. Their integration with us flight security apparatus is poor and they may send you onward to istambul with no boarding pass to the usa flight if they cant print one for some reason.
3. Flights often change last minute to the indigo plane. If there is a cancellation or aircraft change you could be stuck anywhere start or middle for a day or two as they run full and wont be able to find alternates. Their local staff are outsourced and barely capable of printing a boarding pass.
4. India/istambul flights are always quite full and barely an international flight experience in any class.

If nothing goes wrong you might find them acceptable but once anything does you wont be taking a second flight with them, even if you speak turkish!

Came back to USA on Turkish Airlines two weeks ago. If you have more than 12 hours layover, you can get a free hotel or free city tour, courtesy of Turkish airlines. I chose a tour over a free hotel. Plane was clean and comfy but the food was okayish. During check in they offered to my fly my hand carry as luggage for free, Overall I definitely recommend this airlines.

its a mixed bag as someone already highlighted. CS does not care or flight attendants are frustrated to be on the plane. You can try this airline which is comparable to any other airline in the industry. If Emirates, Qatar are 8.5/10, Turkish airline is 5/10. Especially 1 mile walk in the airport for connecting flight
