Probably a better choice than the Beelink S12 Mini Pro if you want to run HA+Frigate with coral because of the extra m.2 slot.

This is probably OK for some Plex / Jellyfin / Home Assistant stuff, but I have concerns about the health of the company. Support has been hit or miss on my UM690s.

The USB-c can take power in ? Single cable connection to a monitor with PD? That would make this pretty attractive. Available in very few mini PCs..

Hmm. only DDR4 . Why? Many N100 options with DDR5.

......Did you just ignore all the specs? Sure, $100 for a barebones unit makes sense, but this is far from barebones.

Just for reference, the same spaces N100 mini pc with 16GB DDR5 and 512GB SSD is sold for about 130-150 USD in Aliexpress right now. and if promoted it will be 110-ish. + The barebone version will come with 16GB DDR5 onboard without SSD for ~100 on promotion...

due to N100 being Single channel only, DDR5 vs DDR4 is a deal breaker in some tasks.

example link?

Aliexpress gives me a headache with 20 wrong options/colors being pushed always, and trying to get the right option actually selected. And I keep getting promotions for N95, N5095 etc. masking as N100 for example.. too much bait and switch. What are good ways to not get baited too much?

Hmm. didn't know SD cares about aliexpress links. They're usually worried about losing click-through revenue, that's it..

these models seem to have no USB-c ports at all, leave alone PD USB-C ?? 2024 and no USB-C , cmon.. And why 3 HDMI ports unless you're running a kiosk or something.. to each his/her own I guess, but still

Firebat AM02 does seem to have USB-C PD port. Should look into it and see what's the best price that can be had.

Probably keeping the cost low. And with this low end cheap, you'll hardly see any real world performance difference between DDR4 and DDR5, especially with its single channel memory controller.

Hmm. sure? Memory BW is always important and could be the limiting factor. So if it's only a single channel, the loss of performance between DDR5 and DDR4 should be even more important, right? Some benchmarks might throw light on this..

Also, low-end does not mean you don't care about performance. If there is less headroom, performance could be even more important for usability.

This specific Processor series is not developed for the performance tasks which can benefit for faster memory. Before any kind of memory bottleneck happens for such a task, the processor will be bottlenecked far before that. For example, gaming in iGPU can significantly boost using faster system memory, provided the iGPU is powerful enough. In here, the iGPU will be bottlenecked far before it gets affected by memory bandwidth. If you are having a decently powerful CPU, like even a Core i3 12th or 13th gen, your point is perfectly valid.
