Nope. None of them will port in 4k. You have to buy them in 4k to port 4k.

They only auto upgrade to 4k if purchased direct from apple, these are from Amazon, so will stay HD when ported to apple

You're not wrong, but he's not wrong either. Video compression is pretty decent these days so you may not notice as much difference over streaming anymore, but you will notice on the audio. Compression there for streaming vs on a disc makes a huge difference.

Could I pay more for them to not include the Disney trilogy?
Was wondering the same thing, only I'd get rid of the prequel trilogy as well. including Count Doodoo and that awful flying Yoda CGI crap.

Plus, what happens when Lucas decides to re-re-re-re-edit the first three films to make Jabba a powerful girl boss, or to replace all the lightsabers with walkie-talkies, or any other unnecessary stuff? If we only have a digital copy in a locker and they decide to change the film, we don't have an option to de-specialize those changes do we?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but if I already own some of these digital titles in 4K and then purchase this bundle, only the titles not previously owned will be added to my library (all the 4K versions remain as is), correct?

wish it came with Rogue One. Watching this before A New Hope is pretty sweet.

Anyone know what the bonus mentioned in the post title is?
They are the extended releases, one movie is 8 hours long for example! Not too keen on that

Can someone, who has this, tell me what the audio encoding would be? There's surprisingly no description on the page. Thanks

Granted, audio streams available on streaming can be a bit hit or miss (as can the playback device's ability to decode them), but audio takes up so little bandwidth that often the streaming audio is equivalent to the disc. The thing that's always better though is the video bitrate, and often Dolby Vision and HDR are much better as well. Finally, your disc player can do a lot of visual enhancements that just aren't possible with streaming too.

Another thing to consider is the equipment you're using. A $300 55in LCD from Wal-Mart isn't going to hold a candle to a $1500 55in OLED. In the case of budget equipment, 4K streaming isn't going to look much worse than a 4K disc, but that's because of the equipment being used.
I believe you have that backwards. Streaming differences between HDR vs DV, IF they're a hit and miss is a minute difference at best.

AQ on the other hand is a major downgrade, it's not even close!

I agree that your equipment/setup plays a significant role with this.

Like your display example, some fancy Atmos soundbar does not give you anything close to what Atmos is capable of.
To be fair it's not designed to, it's just simulated.

Some of these 4K diehards believe there is a major quality difference between the disc and streaming.

Which is not true unless your internet is bad or you are using a bad streaming device.

But you'll never convince them otherwise. Which is fine.
Not on the audio quality side regardless of internet quality or streaming device!

Well. unless you're using a soundbar but that's a whole different topic!

Yes but...

DVDs generally top out at 448kbps and Netflix uses 640kbps DD+, so in this case Netflix is actually better both in terms of sound quality and supporting more than 5.1 surround. Now are any streaming services using uncompressed Dolby TrueHD? No, of course not, but I would argue most people don't have the equipment to tell a difference; so I do agree that sound is highly dependent on equipment utilized.

The 2019 release is over 5 hours long, I wonder if I'm forced to watch the extended version only. Revenge of the Sith is 8 hours. Not sure I'll ever watch these versions.
There aren't extended versions of these movies. The 5 hour time includes bonus features.

I think I enjoyed the Disney trilogy more than the prequels.
Same. The prequels are pretty awful. The sequel trilogy had a lot of good ideas and is consistently visually interesting, they just completely failed to plot out their story ahead of time and, as a result, ended up being a bit of a mess.

I'd rather watch a pile of "didn't quite work out" be interesting ideas over wooden acting against green screens and Jar Jar Binks any day..

Technically Kaleidoscope streams lossless TrueHD, but agree with the rest of your point

$20 bucks for the entire collection (minus Rogue One), its pretty good even though its HD and not 4K. I have the Hulu/Disney bundle from last year's black friday, who knows if Disney will offer the bundle this year.
How do Disney/Hulu offer it?

I'm not aware of them having a paid streaming platform you can buy content.

Calling people names doesn't suit you well.

He is right and wrong. Right with the fact that the disc is of a much better quality than streaming. The bitrate leap is gigantic on disk. The audio is where I notice it the most however with channel separation and dynamic range much much better. But for a ;quick watch on a laptop, streaming is quite good and easy to use.
To be fair, it's possible for the provider to in the future provide better bitrate, or better compression through new codecs that isn't convenient to use today. You can even end up with higher lossless compression in the future than what is offered on disc.

So that's something to consider.
