DVDs generally top out at 448kbps and Netflix uses 640kbps DD+, so in this case Netflix is actually better both in terms of sound quality and supporting more than 5.1 surround. Now are any streaming services using uncompressed Dolby TrueHD? No, of course not, but I would argue most people don't have the equipment to tell a difference; so I do agree that sound is highly dependent on equipment utilized.
With good equipment (heck even a decent).
Legacy 5.1 surround on DVD disc sounds better than any 4k streaming, not even close in my experience.
With so many switching to soundbars this is pretty much a moot debate.
I'd rather watch a pile of "didn't quite work out" be interesting ideas over wooden acting against green screens and Jar Jar Binks any day..
I saw a fan edit of The Phantom Menace where they cut out much of Jar Jar and the kid where possible. The best part was the "Cathedral" fight scene at the end stayed with the fight instead of repeatedly jumping to young Anakin accidentally blowing up the mothership.

As a matter of fact they are often compare themselves to that type of streaming.
You better have a pretty good equipment to spend that much on that service.
You can also do it yourself for much cheaper or just buy a player!
