The 7950x3d is the best cpu currently available for those with mixed use-cases (both gaming and productivity), having gaming performance roughly equivalent to the 7800x3d (aka. the fastest gaming cpu currently available) while being only very slightly slower than the 7950x in productivity workloads. Power efficiency is also quite good (especially compared to intel). Only a single 8-core ccd has 3d-vcache, so during gaming the other ccd is "parked" and the 7950x3d functions as an 8-core cpu essentially identical to the 7800x3d. This is achieved through the amd chipset driver which interfaces with the microsoft game bar, though core affinity can be manually controlled with tools such as process lasso if you're so inclined. In non-gaming workloads the 7950x3d functions near identically to the 7950x, having 16 full sized cores with hyperthreading for 32 threads. The ccd with 3d-vcache has slightly lower clocks, so productivity performance is marginally worse than that of the base 7950x, but the difference is fairly minor. The 7950x3d typically doesn't go below $450 in extremely short lived sales, and normally hovers closer to $500 on sale.

The motherboard's specs page can be found here: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/M...cification
The motherboard included in this bundle is high end overall, using the top end x670e chipset. It has an 8 layer pcb, a frankly overkill 14(80a)+2+1 vrm, supports pcie gen5 for both the primary x16 slot and primary m.2 slot, and has substantial i/o overall. Boards with similar features tend to be $200-$250 on a good sale.

The included 32gb (2x16gb) ram is ddr5 6000 cl32 using hynix memory chips. The performance difference compared to to ddr5 6000 cl30 is quite minimal, and this ram falls into the current sweetspot for the am5 platform. Overclocking/tuning potential should be good since hynix memory chips are used. It's important to note that since the ram kit includes 16gb dimms, if you wanted 64gb using the included ram kit you'd need to run a 2 dimm per channel (4x16gb) configuration. That can be less stable, potentially even at expo speeds depending on the silicon lottery. Similar quality 32gb (2x16gb) ddr5 6000 cl30 ram kits can be found at around ~$90 on a good sale.

Overall, this bundle is a very good value at $650, so long as you'd make use of such a powerful system.
Ok and? Go buy the bundle last year then
It used to be possible to swap out the motherboard and/or ram for the microcenter bundles, but microcenter fixed that a little while ago. I just tried again to verify, and bundle discounts don't appear to apply with any other combinations of motherboards or ram. I've heard stories of people talking to managers and being able to swap out parts while paying the price difference, but that's absurdly ymmv and obviously depends on the manager.

Always helpful to add to these premium combination deals that no CPU heatsink/fan is included. Thanks Op.

Good luck!

You have to buy the combo as it is.. Go to customer service and exchange the mobo for the one you want, just pay the difference. Just did with the 12900k going for $399. Exchanged the pre-selected mobo for an ITX

I bought the bundle a bit ago and giving some thoughts:

I've been get BSODs due to memory faults and when I googled it, seems to be possibly bad memory modules. It doesn't seem uncommon, so right now I'm downclocking the RAM to 4400Mhz to help with stability.

The WiFi, Bluetooth etc will not work when you start up windows. You need to download the msi x670e WiFi drivers. Either use Ethernet to download it or just transfer it over via a usb drive.

The CPU with Noctua Dh 15 pulls 150W absolute max, 40C idle and 85 at full throttle.

Thank you for explaining so we'll and breaking it down to the core.
However, could you please elaborate more on the (4x16gb) configurations and wby would it be less stable? And please explain the silicon lottery šŸ˜…
I'm a noob and trying to understand as I'm building my new gaming rig soon!

Short answer. It's harder to get 4 memory modules to all act the same rather than 2.

Longer answer also has something to do with how the memory controller acts with all four slots populated.

Toms Hardware, Wccftech, Hardware Unboxed, Linus Tech Tips and Gamers Nexus all have deep dives into it. I'd recommend watching their content if you want to learn more about computer hardware in general.
