steamliners are all made in Indonesia, electromatics in China, the higher models in Japan and Custom shop in USA

This is an electromatic and as said, made in China.

Interesting I didn't know that distinction, I have an Indonesian tele and it's really well made!

I have a few streamliners (4) and 3 electromatic's now (when this one from this deal arrives..LOL). Honestly while the Streamliners are a lower tier, they are very, very close in quality to the electromatics and I suspect sample variation you can have streamliners that are better than electromatics QA wise and even sound (even among "exact" same guitar that you can't see any difference, set up properly, often they will sound slightly different. The pickups on the electromatics are more "Gretsch sound" generally than the BT2/3's on streamliners by a little bit (Electromatics tend to have some version of Gretsch Blacktops/filtertron's), and as this is a P90 guitar is not going to be the "Gretsch sound" that some may think of in a Gretsch but still really nice sound. I like Gretsch, I also like P90's and this will be my 3rd Gretsch with P90's. Gretsch has been doing more P90 offerings it seems than traditionally, someone there must like them as well and trying to appeal to a broader customer base beyond rockabilly/classic rock that Gretsch is pigeon holed in perception wise. The sometimes business school adjunct and MBA in me thinks it would be an interesting case study for a marketing class.. LOL

This is an amazing price for a guitar that really is better than it's MSRP would suggest even if bought at full price ($599)

Great deal but have one in red so no need to get it just for the cool color. Pass. I'm so proud of myself! Wow, how I've grown. A year ago would be an instant buy.

I think that coming out of covid Fender (that makes, markets, distributes Gretsch) has overordered thinking the covid sales increase when people were looking to do stuff at home would last forever and have the warehouses stuffed to the rafters.

I suspect that these have been heavily discounted to volume dealers to get them out of there, at, near or even slightly below cost.

The consumer wins big time, the big volume guitar places will win as well, the small mom and pop guitar shops are getting destroyed as they don't have the buying power to get in on and many will have these in stock that they bought at normal dealer price that is likely close or even slightly lower than this deal.

No luck on MF chat for price match, they said they can't price match a non-us competitor?? So what's the trick?
