They are referring to the Blu-ray digital code that would come with the retail film which seems random to even mention since they are talking about the digital version of the film for this deal.

I mentioned the digital code included with the retail disc because if you wait later to buy the disc like during BF, then it won't be valid any more and might as well buy the digital movie now when it is on sale.

In my experience, expiration dates on digital codes accompanying physical media seem largely irrelevant. I've yet to have an expired code fail to redeem. Some were expired by years. Of course, YMMV, but I don't worry about those dates.

I am with you, but I have had a few expired recently. Some studios seemingly are starting to really crack down on these and it's baffling to me. So from now on I actually pay attention to these dates.

WB started expiring old codes a few months ago

Try to redeem a digital code on an old WB 4K release movie, and your luck will change. WB customer service will say you are out of luck, and they will not issue you a new code.

Who knows if the other movie studios will follow WB's lead.

This has been my experience as well.
