I had one of these some years back as well, but while it was pretty useful, the battery wasn't replaceable and it became useful only as a (plugged in) night light after a few years. These don't appear to have replaceable batteries either. That being said, at less than $6 per light, they're easy on the wallet. It just bothers me that I'd be purchasing guaranteed e-waste after a certain number of years.

I really wanted these but didn't need 6 of them, and found a 3-pack for $21.99, so it's just slightly more per flashlight.

I had this type many years ago - (though NiCad) and they were great - left plugged in - basement and two floors for ready flashlight use and indicator/emergency light since our power went out a lot.

So convenient to always know where the flashlight is Big Grin

It's better to have more rather than less, especially if you live in an area that experiences frequent power outages.

NiCad and NiMH don't seem to mind staying at 100% fully charged long-term, but I'd be concerned about a cheap li-ion item like this that'll likely stay plugged in for months or years.

I keep cheap flashlights with replaceable AAA or AA batteries (for which I have dozens of replacements) in each room. I've got a half dozen free, ahem $5, Olights. With that said, the rechargeable $5 olights suck. They don't last.

Just go to any of the flashlight forums, they will assure you that you can NEVER have too many flashlights Big Grin

Most of those non-replaceable batteries are still replaceable, you just have to try a lot harder Wink

I bought one of these from a slickdeal a few years ago. It still works fine. Not the brightest or most durable flashlight in my house, but handy in an emergency. One thing I don't like is that the bottom of the flashlight has a slight curve and it almost impossible to stand upright. Other than that it's good and cheap for what it is.

What does that mean? Are these batteries replaceable or not?

He means there is a chance you can try to open it and then Google the battery cell and try to find one that matches and replace it. A few problems, I took my old generic toothbrush apart and could not find the cell and even of I could have I wasn't sure how to attach the wires to the replacement, the existing looked like they were spot welded on. That assumes everything isn't glued together to prevent battery replacement in the first place.

Seems like a good idea. I already have a lot of flash lights but I always have problem finding them during power outage.

The reviews mentioning melted flashlights and fire-hazard are quite concerning.

I HIGHLY recommend the westinghouse 4-in-1 motion activated night light version over this one. It's the same price, same lumens, but much more compact and useful everyday because it doubles as a night light on top of an emergency flashlight. You can set it turn on when it's dark only or when it's dark AND motion is detected which is really useful walking around the house at night having lights turn on and off automatically as you leave and exit the room. In night light mode it's a soft yellow light then when the power cuts out it automatically switches to a bright white light. Then you take it off the base and put the prongs in to turn it into a white led flash light.

Search "westinghouse 4-in-1 power failure night light" on amazon to find it.
