I was going to say "no" because it appears to have a counterweight. But, after researching it more, it doesn't appear to be a functional counterweight as there's no mention of it and there's no measurement incorporated into the part that mimics the look of the counterweight. Also, the cartridge/stylus doesn't appear to be standardized and therefore I'm not sure how you'd upgrade from the trash one that's included.

It's hard to understand a turntable that's 88% of the way "there" but is designed in a way to look similar or mimic a decent turntable, yet completely ignores the main feature that causes all the suitcase players to damage records. That is, the ability to adjust the tonearm weight and the ability to use a decent stylus. It seems like it's more financially beneficial to sell crappy players that, even though they damage records and sound crappy, are easy to "setup" and use. Because incorporating a proper balance function definitely adds time and precision to the setup process.

It has an acceptable preamp built in, janky yet functional pitch control, Bluetooth, decent input/output options, speaker jacks..but no tonearm control..

The best affordable turntable is still the 1970's Technics table that you'll find at your local record store/CL ad/auction site. They're beasts, can always be upgraded and there's only 3-4 things that go wrong with them.

Gemini was always the cheap bargain bin DJ equipment for beginners. I'm not surprised that their consumer model is just as janky.

It's not hard to understand when you realize that profit is the motivation here. "Almost there" means high prices to those that don't know any better. A fake counterbalance is all you need to know.
