FWIW they are planning various store closures.

I liquidated my gamestop trade credit for PSN and Microsoft credit last week.

Looks like TIV for the XSX and PS5 disc will be $360 store credit if you want to get one of the new consoles.

I thought trade credit for gift cards didn't work anymore

Gamestop needs to offer automatic "pro"-rated refunds after shutting down Game Informer. You don't get change the rules and keep the money.

I thought so too. Going to need some clarification here.

Also, and not surprisingly, GameStop already decreased the trade-in price on e.g. the PS5 by 10%. So really this promo for 20% more instead of 10% means it is right back where it was before the promo.

It still does. I did some transactions a few months ago. I was told the same thing, but GameStop headquarters normally don't communicate effectively to the store managers and associates.

It still works. I was told this at first, but until I traveled to a different GameStop and didn't tell the associate I was going to use the trade in credit. I swiped it and it went through. Trade in credit is treated like a debit transaction.

Yeah I get confused by it too. I have found that the store clerks are just lying to people when they say that. Try a different gamestop.

For some reason this company sells new games that have broken shrink wrap, and new consoles that have cut seals.

I swear they stopped at like the beginning of the year, but I'll have to ask.

Just stopped and spoke to one employee that said, in Illinois at least, that it wasn't corporate but it was the state cracking down since trade credit/gift cards don't have any taxes associated to it. Plus they mentioned that a lot of the like, Google play store card scams were happening there as well. Not sure how they correlate but at least it was a better answer than flat "no".

gift cards can't be used for psn, xbox or eshop credit, trade credit can be. This is in store only, as neither can be used online for currency.

You're thinking of the monthly $5 coupon. They stopped allowing it to work on the PSN/XBL/Steam cards last year but then reversed course after a ton of backlash. Unfortunately they decided to reinstate the policy early on this year.

I only for Sony PlayStation and Xbox Gift Cards. I'm extremely confident that it'll go through.
