These have had bad rep in the past for having shady software installed. As you should with all Mini PCs, install your own OS.

The price is very attractive, but there is a reason these are so inexpensive.

Make sure you update the drivers. Mine had terrible performance until I did that.

I installed a clean copy of the OS right away, but it kept freezing and crashing. What's concerning is that the unit also hangs during the bios loading screen. If the firmware is compromised, its not something that reinstall/virus scanners can remedy. The company claims that malware was from 3rd party vendors.. but this just means that they don't have safety checks in place to prevent bad actors in the supply chain. Granted mine just might be a faulty unit, but im not taking any chances given the history.
As far as SSD and memory. quality should be fine but back up often. It's in their interest to provide decent components. My GMKtec has very good memory and SSD. I wouldn't use a mini pc for mission critical needs unless there's a backup device that can be used. For Linux, if the hardware fails - power supply, motherboard, etc. just pop the SSD into another computer - Intel or AMD, and it will work well enough until you get things sorted out. Also, as someone mentioned, stick with the three most popular Chinese brands. Order direct or from Aliexpress if you need a configuration, such as barebone, that isn't available from Amazon. I use Ubuntu only, but did log into Windows to get the Windows key. Dual boots are a headache.
