Very unlikely your laptop screen is display input capable. You'd have to use this computer standalone in addition to the laptop and RDP into it or something. You'd be better off just buying a nicer portable monitor also if that was your planned setup.

I cant wait for the 6000 series stuff to get to these price points cause the iGPU on those are crazy powerful for their efficiency. MiniPCs are getting super good value.

It's a hard space to navigate and not a lot of information on what's out there.

We were looking at AIOs along with the minis (trying to save space) and the minis just seem like a smarter buy because then you're not locked into a specific display. Plus the cost is way lower.

Spent the last few weeks navigating specs/costs/tradeoffs and this was a one that seemed to hit the sweet spot of max (theoretical) performance for the price as well as a low power build when idle.

yeah im more inclined to jump on this as I am leaning more towards amd as opposed to intel...I was going to do the minisforum 5600H but this comes with ssd, ram, and windows...but im also leaning towards waiting it out longer for better deals now that intel nucs are no more.

I have no idea why this has 1 hdmi and 1 dp port....

same boat here. i can't decide to go with a this one (5800u) or a newer one like the 7735hs, and also wonder about the noise level too.

Got the Ryzen 5 version of this from an earlier deal for $250. Seems sold so far, the dual LAN is a big plus if you plan to use it to host VMs for a homelab.

I actually think 12v power would have been better though, I run it off of a power station, but its way more finicky to find a USBC power source it likes for backup power vs a 12v source. I had to try several power stations till I found one that worked.

Wonder if I can get this and use my laptop as the main display + it's keyboard? Would basically be a egpu for my weak laptop when I'm traveling. portable enough to bring along and setup in the hotel.

It's 30 below the lowest price it's ever been. "Regular price" doesn't include a couple of random few day long sales in a 7 month old product.

I thought about doing this before. You can do it via Steam Remote Play with internet connection sharing via Ethernet but you run the risk of things not working and you'd be SOL without a monitor and keyboard to troubleshoot.

Thanks OP, the mini PCs are ideal for those who don't game, need high end audio or tons of HDDs. Basic browsing, editing docs/pics. Don't know about the price, but definitely a good way to go.
Any idea, if the RAM/SSD are upgradeable or are they soldered in

I impulsively bought this previously and it's quite good. I've purchased and returned a handful of these sff boxes and this one just seems better all around. I don't have a use case for it right now but it's faster than expected and considering I only play Minecraft with the kiddo it handles that perfectly fine @1440p.
