I can't speak for the Tapo C210, but I recently purchased the Tapo C211 for use as a baby monitor, which may be the black version of the latest hardware. If so, I've found that there's a lot of misleading information in this thread.
Adding an SD card does NOT require a cloud subscription. From my router, it appears that no data is sent during video tracking/recording.
The camera supports up to 0.5 TB SD cards.
It features motion tracking, human tracking, and baby crying detection.
Unlike Kasa, Tapo does support local streaming to NAS https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/2680/ .
On Google Home/Chromecast, you can say "Show my Nursery Camera" to stream for 5 minutes https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/2739/ .
On a tablet or phone (on the same WiFi network SSID), you can open the Tapo app and stream continually. When away from home, streaming is limited to 5 minutes.
Night monitoring is great, but the camera does display a red light constantly (unclear why, as infrared is not visible).
Cry detection sends a notification to the phone, which can be customized in Android settings to play a longer or louder sound.
Although you can share the device with multiple Tapo accounts, only the main account receives notifications. To receive notifications on multiple devices, you must sign in with the same account on each device.
The camera is "wireless" in that it's WiFi-enabled, but it does require being plugged into power via a circular plug (not USB). I wish it were easier to connect to an external battery for on-the-go monitoring.

I have had these installed outside for 2+ years. The one on the front porch is set to motion detect primarily, while the other one is set to stationary at the back entrance. It was a twin pack.
The front door is set to motion detect as it covers the road, parked cars and porch. The back door covers the patio and alley mainly. They're both protected by the rain and snow, unless it's sideways. The one set to motion detect needs reset every so often and if I wanted, I could do that every few days because of home position creep occurs every few days by a tad bit.
I also have 1 stationary cam model of the same brand. They all do fine recording to SD cards and stay connected to WiFi pretty well.
They've helped detect endearing family moments on the porch and critters making noises with our trash cans. Found out how the bird bath got broken, why my FedEx package 📦 was rolling in the ground (he fell out of the back of the box truck 🤕) and my sister telling her son she loves him before sending him off to the military and my brother quizzing his teenage son 5:30 in morning hunter safety and readiness actions with the muzzleloader.
Worth every penny these things are. The app works pretty well and is integrated with their other products, like lights. Have them connected with Alexa. Paid I think the same as this during Amazon lightning deals.
Please don't use Wyze for anything. They have proven time and again they do not care about protecting your privacy, even leaving databases completely unsecured for people to harvest all of their user's data on multiple occasions. They also regularly change subscription costs/models and their services often just do not work at all or break without warning. They have even shipped their robot vacuums with known bricked firmware to customers and had customers report being able to view other customers camera feeds. Truly the worst of the worst when it comes to these inexpensive IOT companies.

replaced all of my Arlo pro 2 system\cameras with a combination of these wired tapos as well as a couple of the wireless. Great upgrade and appreciate the sd card option on all for local storage.
Do you have to pay for a monthly subscription for these?

It is pretty long, 8-9 ft. I'm not home right now so I can't measure exactly.
An important note on the cable is that this camera doesn't use a USB port for charging, like many other cameras do. It uses a wall adapter with a barrel jack that plugs into the camera.

Yes, if you use the original firmware and app, footage from the SD card is accessible on a smart phone. The app also highlights events that you are tracking (e.g. motion) on the video timeline.
I have these and they are garbage, the vertical motion stops working after 2 months and they don't support motion tracking like the Wyze ones do. Replaced all mine with Wyze and very satisfied.
They absolutely support motion tracking, and there are many reviews comparing wyze to Tapo, with Tapo overall beating out Wyze (dont even need a subscription with Tapo to get the features Wyze charges for), the only negative some have about Tapo is it seems to have weaker connection than Wyze if you have a weak signal.

Do you have to pay for a monthly subscription for these?
Not if you don't need to record to the cloud. If you are content recording to an SD card (not included) in the camera, no subscription is needed. Motion detection, person detection and baby crying detection are included for free.
I have some Kasa ones. Check to see if for Tapo you need subscription for some of the features to work. I got Kasa ones since I did not need subscription for the features I wanted.
I have the C211, no subscription needed for any features. The subscription gets you cloud storage but you can use and SD card for for local storage instead. You can still access videos on the SD card using the app.

TBH, I wouldn't trust any cloud-based camera as a baby monitor. The wireless video baby monitors out there don't connect to WiFi for privacy reasons and to reduce delay.

An important note on the cable is that this camera doesn't use a USB port for charging, like many other cameras do. It uses a wall adapter with a barrel jack that plugs into the camera.
