Note that the previous thread on this has a massive amount of technical discussion about practically every aspect of this router and detailed setup instructions etc. If looking for answers, I'd start with a search in that thread (terms like OpenWRT, DD-WRT, stock, CA, mesh, USB, throughput, wired, backhaul, bricked, etc). That may be a good start for those new to it, as it probably already answers a lot of questions that are sure to crop up.

Also, here's a link to some of the basic support docs for it from the Linksys site …

i currently have T-mobile 5g home internet modem/router will hooking this up help with connectivity? TIA
I don't have this router but I do have T-Mobile Home Internet, and adding a separate mesh system does help connectivity. I have 3 mesh devices on two floors. One in my upstairs office connected to the T-Mo router via Ethernet, one in my front living room on the first floor (wireless), and one in my sunroom at the back of the house (also first floor, wireless). I have coverage in the entire house and out in the backyard.

You can use the HINT app to disable the T-Mo Router WiFi, my mesh (eero 6 pro x 3) are in router mode because I use Pihole for DNS, but if you don't you would put this setup in bridge mode.

All these threads have me contemplating a set of these even though I already have a solid mesh setup. For the price and ability to tweak them. I must continue to resist!

The installation is similar to DD-WRT. The reason you feel intimidated is because the initial firmware OpenWRT release didn't have luci, which is the GUI to configure the router. You have to SSH to the router and install luci. There are other builds that already include luci as well and here is one such build: https://github.com/arix00/openwrt...0/releases

Initial install instructions are here: https://www.reddit.com/r/openwrt/...utm_term=1
Super thanks again. I'll take a look at the links tonight and try flashing. Thank you.

They're using multiple accounts (other household members, Family & friends etc). Some are just purchasing them outright at $20 after the first @ $15.
Hmm ok I'm gonna hit up my friend

I think I'm up to 6. Waiting on OpenWRT maturity since these things have great hardware specs.

While you wait for OpenWRT, use DDWRT.

I bought at $20 each. The price dropped to $15 days later and Woot! Issued a price match refund.
Did you have to ask for a refund or they did it automatically?

You would need to have them very evenly spaced out, you usually dont want more than 30-40 clients per node, or you will see major slow down and speed performance issues. After it gets to a certain point just like any other Access Point, units will connect just fail to get internet. So 100+ devices on one node would be asking for trouble if they are all on at the same time, you can probably get upwards of 70ish/80 if they are all low bandwidth use or home automation products on one node that dont always require constant reporting.

Ignorance is a bliss. Smilie

Btw, OpenWRT is as stable as it can get and am using qosmio's NSS build on 3 devices for more than a week now and it's rock solid, imo!

Bought the 4th one today and *pondering* whether to get the 5th one or not! woot
