Note that the previous thread on this has a massive amount of technical discussion about practically every aspect of this router and detailed setup instructions etc. If looking for answers, I'd start with a search in that thread (terms like OpenWRT, DD-WRT, stock, CA, mesh, USB, throughput, wired, backhaul, bricked, etc). That may be a good start for those new to it, as it probably already answers a lot of questions that are sure to crop up.

Also, here's a link to some of the basic support docs for it from the Linksys site …

It'll work but you'll end up with double nat though. Actually triple nat since tmobile home internet itself is cgnat.

On the stock firmware nothing since it is disabled. On openwrt or ddwrt you can connect a usb storage device and setup a file and/or media server to share across the entire network.

Buy it. Replaced my spotty netgear router and extender with 3 on a mesh setup. Been about 2 weeks now. Absolutely zero complaints, speeds are just as good if not better. Trying to come up with a justification to buy a 4th 🤣

Nothing on the stock firmware. DD-WRT or OpenWRT should be able to do all the usual you'd expect. Network storage with a drive, print server, backup cell modem etc.

Bought four off Amazon at $20 apiece. For $15 I grabbed another for perhaps if I need to add another node later on.

Do you guys know which of the 5GHz band it uses for the mesh nodes? I am still testing it and not yet in full use. The 3 mesh nodes were configured using a wire, and moved to different locations after they were added but left on wifi just for testing purposes. So far it hasn't been very stable as I catch the mesh nodes with a flashing red light occasionally. I want to make sure the clients are not using the band that the mesh nodes use.

I do intend to use a wired backhaul once I decide to use it full time if all goes well, and finally retire my Asus RT-AC3100 along with 3 TMO coverted to AC68U as mesh nodes, which had perform very well for the past probably 8yrs now. Asus recently released another firmware update for them which is most likely the last as they're now officially EOL. Shocking that Asus provided support for these for so long. Which leads me to wonder, am I better off sticking with the Asus as far as security goes, being that this Linksys will likely never received any updates. If this Linksys doesn't work out and I do want to finally move up to wifi6, I will likely stick with Asus for the support.

Haha, replace T-Mobile Asus? You are talking about what exactly I am going to do. The router has better good signal than my Aruba AP.
Used advance tomato fw more advanced than ddwrt

Can I get two and use one as main router and the other as a mesh node?
Yes, buy two or three depending on the area you want to cover. This is a great mesh set up.
Update firmware and set up the mesh!

Redundancy! If you only need 3 it's $15 to save you if one goes down.

What firmware we need to update to ? Does just buying 2 of these will help to create mesh with existing Verizon router ?
