Note that the previous thread on this has a massive amount of technical discussion about practically every aspect of this router and detailed setup instructions etc. If looking for answers, I'd start with a search in that thread (terms like OpenWRT, DD-WRT, stock, CA, mesh, USB, throughput, wired, backhaul, bricked, etc). That may be a good start for those new to it, as it probably already answers a lot of questions that are sure to crop up.

Also, here's a link to some of the basic support docs for it from the Linksys site …

Does anyone know if you can mesh both the main WiFi and the guest WiFi at once?

Oh, ok. Yeah, in this case, your options are limited. Don't worry, as others said - that's the time to invest into serial cable. And being able to fix devices on your own (please advise a good one if you find, need as well)
Any USB to serial should work. I have 95 cents one. If u need a cheap one and can wait, ali express us your way.
If you have $4 to spare go eBay route

Does your current system do everything you need?

Then why would you upgrade to something that uses more power, has less features, no firmware updates, and you can find better systems on sale for not much more (deco costco deal last month was $60 for 3 units).
because this is a dirt cheap upgrade and supports openwrt/ddwrt?

Rbk50 is no longer supported. I just replaced my 5 with 6 of these. Speeds increased and stock firmware running fine.
Voxel is still posting upgraded firmware for the RBK50

Yes, on stock that's how it works.

Got one to replace the terrible spectrum router. I have great coverage on it but so much lag. We will see if this one fixes the problem

Less than 5% sales tax... You in the middle of the country? lol
$14.99 x 0.0625 = $0.94

Illinois has 6.25% state tax -- full local tax is 10.25% in Chicago suburbs

Sometimes I get hit with full tax on online orders but other times I only get hit with state tax -- usually if its shipped from out of state depending on the website I order from

I try to have things shipped for lower state tax (instead of store pickup or local purchase) -- especially electronics since it saves me 4% on tax (Apple website shipped is 6.25% tax but local Apple Store is full 10.25% on the other hand Best Buy charges full tax for me either way)

Got 2 from previous deal. One arrive brick, light on but no wireless name show, connect direct to ethernet, no internet either. Hard reset, still no good. 2nd one work, try flash Openwrt, device did restart but screen keep stuck on "waiting", never complete flash. Switch to 2nd partition and flash back to stock firmware. Hope Openwrt will be stable soon for this specific router.

I have flashed DD-WRT but I am stuck and cannot find any step-by-step guide on how to enable MESH

The instruction provided above seems to be meant for stock firmware?

Could this be recommended for use exclusively as a gaming router? I already have an eero mesh system that works well for everything except my gaming pc.

Me, me! I'm replacing my Asus T-Mobile router with this unit. Some day I'll build that pfSense router and use this Linksys or a dedicated AP. Someday....

I haven't been following it closely but there seemed to be a lot of interest in this router in the OpenWRT and DDWRT communities, along with working beta's. It seems likely the official support will come to one or both of those sooner or later. As many of these as they seem to be offloading at a cheap price I suspect this will end up like the ASUS T-Mobile routers and will be very popular for a long time in the enthusiast circles. In previous threads there were a number of people finally replacing those Asus T-Mobile routers with these routers.

What firmware we need to update to ? Does just buying 2 of these will help to create mesh with existing Verizon router ?
Not with Verizon, but you will create a mesh between the 2 routers.

Notes: no standard yet for Mesh. Each vendor does not play nice with the others.

Are you guys able to access each's webUI/ping/ssh while connecting to one.

i have 3 of these and i have problems connecting to each unit's (pinging to it, access it webui, or ssh into it) while connecting to the network. the unit was in dumb AP, mesh or openwrt fast roaming. all the same.

Is it possible to connect LN1301 wirelessly to a main router of other brand? I have an Orbi RBR750 (with a satellite) as the main router and would love to add the LN1301 to it. AP mode? Extender? Bridge? Mesh?
