TL;DR : Don't buy it for lug nuts, but it makes a nice little impact for smaller tasks. Get the 4 ah battery.

Torque Test Channel on Youtube tested this and it did rather poorly, but I have one and have to disagree somewhat. While you really do need the 4 ah battery (these seem to be very inconsistent across the board - tests disagree on the max torque and whether or not it works meaningfully with the 2 ah battery), it makes a great little impact for smaller tasks without rounding things off or stripping things out. Think most top-of-engine work, belly pan bolts, interior fasteners, etc. Shares the M12 form factor, and has a similar amount of real power to some of its competitors (Skil 12v 3/8, Bauer 3/8 with a 1.5 ah battery, 1st gen Ridgid Subcompact, etc).

Don't buy it for heavy duty tasks, but it's small, light, and works well in lighter-duty applications. Only real issue is the price considering you AT LEAST need a 4 ah battery, and a "fast" charger if you intend to use it regularly, but at $30? It's a solid buy.

Pretty poor performance for this on the torque test channel. As in probably can't actually remove a wheel with the included battery.

Also, shows at $59 for me. 🤷

Edit, I now see the $30 price.

If you are wanting to remove your tires as fast as possible then yeah, this isn't the best tool. I own this tool with the 4 amp battery and I think it's pretty decent. I've also used the Milwaukee m18 and m12 stuff. But then again, I wouldn't be using the M12 for removing my tires either with all things being considered. Yeah, don't buy this if you are wanting to remove lugs.

2ah + 4ah for $45 here: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Hyper-...122427979?

Seems like the better deal, since this tool needs the 4ah. I picked up their M12 knock off ratchet for like $15 a year or so ago. I have one at my mom's and it seems comparable to my M12. Going to pick up one of these for my mom's too. Not expecting it to take lugnuts off, but back when I was switching my tires on and off, I found it easier to just use a breaker bar to break all the lugs free first anyhow.

Technically y should always loosen and tighten lug nut by hand and then torque them

And the tool gods forged a new concept called auto stop, precision wrench, auto mode, etc that drastically reduces the dreaded strip and run off issue and variable speed triggers to control torque application. Of course there is nothing wrong with your method, but I prefer to have coffee and save my knuckles and time. Not to be harsh but growing up in garages I knew of not one mechanic that did not tighten or loosen w/ a lug wrench. In fact it was a site of beauty to watch them (and then later me) whirl the lug wrench around. Man brings back memories. I do torque however 100% of the time. I will say these new digital torque devices are the best, never need recal and dead b**s accurate and cheap.

PSA this tool probably doesn't have this tech but mine do and I have never stripped a bolt or lug in almost a decade.

Also if you need to do consumer auto you just need a mid torque, a high torque is overkill for the application and can increase risk of what OP was referring to.

While that is a crazy low price for a full kit, the battery that comes with isn't great - it cuts out under any significant load, as shown by Torque Test Channel on YouTube: https://youtu.be/D-8zanhlpIw?t=5m52s

Just bought this and tested on lugs on my Tundra (torqued to 97 ft lbs) and on my mustang (torqued to 150 ft lbs). Wouldnt budge the mustang lugs but took 2 of the tundra lugs off pretty easially. This is with the 2 ah battery and a 3/8 female to 1/2 male adapter.

Might be nice to keep in the car so long as the battery survives.

The Torque Test Channel most likely received a defective unit because a different reviewer had much more favorable results with it. If you want to get the max potential out of it, then you'll need to get the 4 AH battery with it. Usually the battery cells are where most of the cost cutting occurs with these cordless tools. It still comes out much cheaper with the tool and 4 AH battery than a bare Milwaukee tool.

BTW the tool should be able to remove lug nuts with the 2 AH battery because I just tested it with mine.

You should try not to use adapters since there will be a loss of torque. Torque Test Channel did a test and saw a ~27% loss in torque.

There's a YouTube video that shows this tool doesn't work with the 1.5ah or 2ah batteries. It works well with the 4ah battery though.

The hyper tough 12v battery is close enough in form factor that you can fit it kind of in Craftsman Nextec tools and power them. I've tested it with the nextec drill and flash light.
Do you know if the 4ah battery works with nextec also?

I don't have a 4ah to check. I would think so though since the contacts are the same as the smaller capacity batteries.

The differences between the Nextec and Hyperthough 12V batteries are:
Nextec has 3 side contacts in addition to the main ones on top. Hypertough only has 2 and the middle contact is replaced by the barrel jack. I think there are some Nextec tools which require these side contacts.

The Hypertough battery has two square cutouts on top. This prevents unmodified Nextec batteries from fitting in the Hypertough tool.

i bought the 2 ratchets of this same kit for 100 a while back as a package deal. one short one extended reach. I use the hell out of them, as a retired professional mechanic. Work great for me. No air needed for quick jobs or stuff on the go.

I have big guns for the big stuff. this is perfect for little jobs, intake manifolds, brakes, etc.

at this price im tempted to get 2.
