TBH if you're questioning whether it works I'd get a cheaper one like the older R3 Extreme or R4 to start off. R8 is more of flagship best of the best etc. I run an R7 in my M3 and an R4 in my X5. Arrows are great but with some common sense they have the same efficacy.
Going with the flow of traffic and never being the leader + this, increases the enjoyment of driving. Extremely helpful when accelerating into a new lane and passing slower traffic. (If this is going off, don't pass and don't change lanes)

why would you want to trust to a less than the best ? if you are not going to get the best one, you might as well not get one at all and save the money for a speeding ticket.
