I have a love/hate with the Ultra 2. I came from a series 9 45mm, and there are things I love about the Ultra 2 and things I don't.
I love the additional screen size, and especially the available faces you can't get on the series 9 and I love the look of the Ultra 2. The extra screen size and faces have actually made me wear it more than the s9. I like the extra battery life, but never really had an issue with my s9. The extra brightness is nice, and noticeable outside, but I never had a problem reading my s9 outside either. The weight is not that much different spec wise (40 vs 60 grams) but it feels much heavier and more substantial on the wrist, where you can almost forget a s9 is on. I was a bit nervous it would be too big but it didn't turn out that way. I do miss the Blood O2 option, but while nice a Blood O2 sensor is like $20 and usually by the time you need one, you already know it
Things I've found I don't like. I have the Alpine loop, I don't struggle with the clasp the way others do, and it's comfy, but I've noticed that it does not sit securely on my wrist when doing things around the house etc, unless I really crank the band uncomfortably tight. I've noticed it often struggles to get a good HR measurement, and I find myself adjusting it "up" my wrist often and/or accidentally pressing the side button in with a bent wrist entering SOS mode. None of these things happened with my s9 with the sport loop. Maybe it's the size, maybe it's the weight, or the band. The sapphire screen should resist scratching much better, but the extra size means if you did want to put a cover on it, it's going to get huge, where the s9 with a cover was still quite compact.
All that said, if I could get a 49mm S9/10 that was 30% lighter even with half the battery, I'd probably do it over the Ultra 2.
