I know this is not the best offer ever for the Southwest Airlines gift card, however, if you just earned your SW Companion Pass promotion flight from the last promo and need to make your flight reservations for the CP promo period, this will take your money further.
Sam's Club membership required to purchase a $500 e-gift card for Southwest Airlines for $449.99. There is a limit of 2 per member (Item # 980382507).

Buy a trip and cancel it if you wish to convert the GC into flight credits that can't be lost.

however, like i said in my first sentence, in the first post, "this is not the best deal ever" but those who are doing the companion pass promo and need to book revenue tickets for travel january 6 - march 6, 2025, get this deal.
important note: like someone else said, once you get the code, book a flight using the egc. when you cancel, it will appear in your acct as flight credits. flight credits are non-transferable on "wanna getaway" fares but they are transferable to someone else if you book the higher tier fare-type. i hope that makes sense.
.
I personally will wait for Black Friday and hope they do the $400 deal they did last year. Other than that, I won't buy Southwest gc's unless I already have a flight(s) in mind. Just my opinion.
But flight credits are tracked under your RR account, so can't be lost, or stolen, or whatever.
You can use them to buy your own ticket, or transferred to another (if you buy a fare other than the cheapest)
With SW you can use the gc to of course buy a ticket. SW allows free cancellations and the credits go to your SW account with an entirely new code. This is a way to transfer the funds from the gc directly to your account as credits.
If you buy a WGA ticket and cancel, the new credits will be locked to your account and only usable by you. If you buy a WGA+ ticket and cancel, the new credits will be locked to your account with the option to use for someone else.
So buy ticket with full gc amount.
Cancel ticket.
Get gc funds transferred to your SW account as credits.
Your biggest decision will be: Are you going to use the full amount for yourself (WGA) or will it be split between multiple people (WGA+)?

Update: Looks like it is back up to 450 as well.
