Depends on what you're building. A large cabinet might need more than two.

I just built some 52" wide shelves and definitely needed 3 of these to glue the nosing on (ie, the front molding). Anything less and it would have warped out of place. The more clamps you have, the more you can force imperfect wood to bend to your will Smilie

With just 2 clamps, I could have maybe used a dummy piece between the clamp and nosing to help distribute the pressure but working alone, that's pretty hard to line up.

Hmmm, All the prices within 50 miles of me are basically one step higher.
12" is $27.29
18" is $31.49
30" is $36.39
36" is $41.02

I own a couple of these as a hobbyist. I also own a bunch of 6" and 12" quick clamps, and HF 12" and 18" F-clamps.

highly recommend the 24" but thats not on sale. I would definitely go 30" over 18". not seeing how useful the 18" would be versus a cheaper clamp - the benefit of these is glue ups for things like panels. it's certainly nicer than a F-clamp, but I'd want the extra capacity for the minimal price difference

the 48" is nice but really unweildly for most jobs. and its tail heavy if using on small things

Good golly I have so many clamps. You can never have too many.

When building my kitchen cabinets, I used 12 clamps total.

Rule of thumb is you will always need N+1, with N being the number you have.

I don't get what makes these that expensive. Regular 24 inch clamps at harbor freight are like $4. I have 6ft parallel clamps that I paid something like $16 for at harbor freight.
