You say this is the KE but it is for the SE, which is a different printer. The SE doesn't have a touch screen, doesn't have a filament run out sensor, doesn't have dual cooling fans, doesn't have an all metal hot end, doesn't have WiFi, doesn't have Klipper. You made me sad with this post.
The listing is for the SE, not the KE. Still a good deal though.
Please fix title. I got excited for a minute. SE is ok but KE is much much better.

Great price on a good printer. I still like my bambu better. But the KE has done a great job on most of my prints. Auto level is a great feature

I heard early Enders you had to tinker with. How has the ke been? Is it as plug and play as the bambu?

Awe man, I got excited because I wanted to buy a KE for my nephew for Christmas. This is an SE. there is a pretty big difference. Having built in Klipper, almost double the potential speed, better hotend, etc. This is not a bad deal, but not a KE.

One of my printers is a KE, and it's pretty great.

As much as they are getting closer (even more so in the K series) dont expect them to be. My first machines were Creality's, got me in to the hobby (besides the Monoprice i had). I havent bought one since the Ender v2's and after experiencing Bambu's printers prob never will. It is nice they are open source so if you wanted to tinker light or heavy you were free to, but if a plug and play is what you're looking for, thats most likely not the way you'll wana go. I'd stick with a Bambu Lab if plug and play is what you're after. I'm actually real interested in the v3 KE and if this was the KE at this price I might scoop it up just to tinker, but it appears this is the SE which doesnt check all the boxes I need it to so it's an easy no for me.

Where the enders suffer is usually QC.

You probably still have to tinker but not as much as something like an ender 3 pro. But don't expect the quality/consistency of Bambu.

The great feature this machine has is Auto Z-offset. This should eliminate the need for frequent tinkering if you get a good working machine.

With that said, keep in mind this is a refurbished machine as well...

Thanks for catching that! I apologize for the mix-up on the model and I've updated the post to reflect the correct info.

Yeah... As the owner of a K1 and K1C, I have to disagree with you completely. The K1 and K1C are ready to print right out of the box and you do not have to tinker with them at all. The K1 series printers (K1, K1 Max, K1C, K1 SE, K2) are all plug and play.

You're going to get a lot of opinions on this.

My .02 is that I got a V3 SE for Christmas last year at $180 and have been printing almost everyday since then. 95% print success rate and it's been awesome as a plug & play. However, I did spend some time understanding the basic adjustments (speed/temperature/etc) that enables me to 'help' the printer when needed, but no physical tinkering required like the earlier Enders and the auto-leveling is perfect. I print in PLA and PETG constantly with builds small and large (8-12"+).

Well worth the money IMO and I have no desire to get a Bambu because of this reason.

I got a SE for Christmas last year and there is definitely some tinkering and some upgrades you can do to make it a decent reliable printer for under $40 so if you buy this deal I highly recommend doing three things:
  1. Upgrading the stock plate to a PEI plate. Either a actual Creality PEI plate or Comgrow makes a good plate I've been using for months, actually like it better then the Creality one.
  2. Upgrade the stock hard plastic bed spacers to silicone spacers ($7). You will be able to level the bed so much better. Yes it has auto leveling but if you get it closer to 0 it will do less work adjusting to your bed. First layers will look better also.
  3. Reinforce the gantry. It wobbles, even if you relocate the filament, and it's usually out of square. The one I printed and did is this one: https://www.printables.com/model/...ry-support He mentiones to use a M10 threaded rod but you can also use two 2' long 3/8" threaded rods from Home Depot along with 3/8 bolts.

Once you do these three things along with tuning the printer using the instructions from this excellent site: https://teachingtechyt.github.io/...ation.html you will have a decent setup for under $170.

With that said I sold my upgraded SE and bought a KE and like it better simply because of the built in web interface. I put the printer on a remotely controllable plug so I can power it on, connect to the web interface, start it heating, transfer a file to it, and then go into the basement to load the filament and start a print. It saves me time and the extra cost of the KE was worth it to me. I also added a camera to the KE (plug and play) so I can monitor the print. You can do the same with a raspberry pi with the SE but I didn't want to go through that. Found a deal on the KE on eBay refurbished for $179. Still had to do some minor upgrades but it's a better printer overall. But again if you are looking to get started the SE is still a good printer once it's setup.

I'm talking about more than just a printer though but the overall experience. Bambu ecosystem is more plug and play from getting a model online to setting it up in slice and then to the printer, not just printing. I was taking it all into consideration, specially considering the missing features from this particular model.

Yeah, I was talking about the same too. Creality Print does everything automatically for you now.
