Very good price for quality cookware. Note that the D3 exterior is polished if you care about keeping stuff looking pristine. Meaning that scratches and stuff will be more noticeable. D5 is a bit more expensive because it has more layers and the exterior is brushed finished so less noticeable scratches. All in all, All Clad cookware is awesome. I got a D5 frying pan from a factory seconds sale just to test out their offerings on the cheap. I can confirm that good cookware makes better dishes.
In general, it's better to go for all clad seconds than for these deals (through homeandcooksales) and it'll be open in around 5 days.

8" and 10" pans aren't that big. Think 2 egg and 3 egg omelettes respectively.

Most people use 10" and 12" for most of their cooking. Regardless of it being stainless, these sizes won't be great for most.
Serious question, not too familiar with ss cookware.
What is the main difference in construction between this set and the tri ply Tramontina branded pan set that Costco sold for $23 ?
Thank you!

Does anyone know if the Costco All Clad sets are different than the All Clad sets sold by their own website? I've been looking between these two sets and am amazed that the Costco set https://www.costco.com/all-clad-d...08028.html seems to provide more options and value than the All Clad set https://www.all-clad.com/d3-stain...set-2.html and I was just wondering if the quality is different.

I don't know of any specific differences, but the D3 is high quality. This particular 2 piece set recently appeared on the website. Given that Costco is bulk/wholesale, it makes sense that the 24 piece set is cheaper with your yearly membership.

On another side note for keeping stainless clean: baking soda slurry, a blue scrubber, and elbow grease. It's abrasive enough together stuff off your pan, but not enough to mar it.

Don't bother with barkeepers friend unless you really jacked up your pan. It WILL scratch it if the water /barkeepers ratio isn't high enough

Honestly? You aren't likely to see any meaningful performance improvements as a home cook. There's a lower likelihood for hot spots and scorching, more mass for sustained heat transfer, and the handle is likely more comfortable.

Beyond that, its mostly brand and exterior appearance (which only really matters if you hang your pans)

I agree. Half a pack of breakfast links (7-8 links) or one grilled cheese in the 8", one pack of brats or sausages (5 brats) or 2 decent sized steaks in the 10" for more perspectives.

You realize the D5 is just marketing spin from AC when they lost the patent on tri-ply (D3), right? The overall thickness is the same from D3 to D5, so all they did was split AND reduce the aluminum layer to add in another steel layer. This is NOT good because it's the aluminum layer you actually want to spread heat evenly but the total aluminum content was reduced in D5.

I don't know that specific brand and model but it's likely a tri-ply (steel-aluminum-steel) with a thinner aluminum layer than AC D3. If you're on a budget, get the D3, they are fine for most home cooks and will last. If you're on a very tight budget, go to a restaurant supply store and buy hard anodized aluminum cookware, they are cheap and likely work even better as they are full aluminum. If you have the money and interest in cooking, then buy Demeyere Proline (pans) and Atlantis (pots), then you'll never have to upgrade further unless you get into bi-metal copper cookware which is a totally different discussion. Also consider thick carbon steel fry pans, they are cheap and will last forever but are more finicky in care and maintenance.
