Interesting...clicking this link and searching for a hotel in Toronto for late October gives me "Rate Unavailable" for every single one. Opened a new tab in Private mode and searched without the code, and what do you know, everything is available.

Maybe it's some sort of issue with my device, so I won't jump to conspiracy just yet...

Same thing in Phoenix. Not a single hotel available with this rate on the night selected in mid January. Plenty of availability at regular rates.

edit: my bad. just noticed promo end in November.

Truth. They used to be great, but after the Starwood acquisition, things have gone downhill. Post-pandemic, it's been even worse - lack of housekeeping, ignoring Elite benefits, closing concierge lounges, "resort" fees everywhere... lifetime Platinum here, and I stay at Hiltons now for the most part. Marriott is still great in Europe, though, and presumably Asia.

Thanks for the heads-up OP, this worked for a trip in Chicago, although I didn't even need the code. It's the same as the Pre-Pay Bonvoy member rate.

Very interesting. I switched from another chain and tried both Hilton and Marriott chains starting about two years ago. Marriott brands were far better. I stay all over the U.S. for work and tried several of each brand within these chains. I will say as a regular traveler, Marriott definitely treats their loyal members well. Yes, just as with any chain, there are some duds and some hotels in need of renovation. Check reviews and ratings before a stay and that helps tons. Marriott keeps even the worst reviews on its hotel websites so it is easy to sort out the weeds.

I've stayed at many (or most) of the major US hotel brands. I basically lived in a Hyatt for a year (due to consulting work), Hilton, IHG and have decided that loyalty to Marriott works out best. I've stayed now over 1,000 nights. They do indeed reward loyalty & make it easy to use points too.
