With Metro's $75 iPhone 12 and $3 for Google Voice unlock, Pixel 9 was to be had for $78.

The plan costs $900/year. Adding back the value of Prime gets us to $760/year, which is the all-in cost for the phone and a year of service.
Visible (as an example) costs $300/year. Add the cost of Prime and we're at $440/year.
The difference is about $320, which I'd suggest is effectively the cost of the phone. I can get a new iPhone 12 on Swappa right now for $329, and mint condition for $290. In exchange I'm locked with a provider for a year and can't take advantage of other potential deals during that time period.
What am I missing? Or is this deal more targeted at people paying full price for phone plans?
- You have not activated your previous device.
- If you have activated the previous device, the port could be incomplete. You can call Metro CS and ask them to verify completion and expedite it if necessary.
- If you got halfway through a transaction and it failed (couldn't reserve number, tx declined, rejected by anti-fraud) that number will be on hold while the port clears and you won't be able to add a new line. Call Metro CS and ask them to cancel the port. You should then be able to add a line again, but you must use a different number to port unless you wait 24 hours.
- Bad IP. Sometimes IPs get throttled from the backend.

Spectrum does have Pixel 9 Pro XL deal that's not half bad. More hoops to jump through but this would be good candidate for trade in there too I believe
