Yes, that's exactly what I did. It's a bit of a process but can be done.
Bought phone with a google number.
2 days later switched the device to an unlocked android phone via phone support. (Need to make sure they free up the esim on the iphone when they do it.) Then delete esim on the iPhone
Went to the Metro store to sign up for the $25.00 unlimited plan (Can only do in-store at the moment) with a number that I wanted to use. I did a physical sim so I had to pay the extra $10.00. (Did it so I could switch devices easier in the future)
