This is not a good deal and also not a ceramic smoker. I got one on clearance from Lowe's for $125 last year. It smokes amazing brisket and does just about anything a Weber kettle does. The cool features are the slow roller for smoking, and the ceramic plates at the bottom for heat retention.

With added gaskets I can get 10-12 hours of run time off a basket of lump. That's not bad for a kettle.

Don't confuse this with the big Joe or the regular. It's not a real Kamado.

I don't have a personal experience with it but for a similar price I think I'd rather have an Akorn. I do own an Akorn and I love it.

Thanks and repped! What would be a good price for an entry-level real Kamado?

I recently bought the Classic Joe I on sale for $480 on Amazon, they've been regularly discounted at that price randomly for the past couple months now, just have to keep an eye out.

Agree - last week my Lowe's had 4 of these for $124 and two Akorn Auto-Kamodos for $160. I would not recommend the latter - get an Akorn or regular ceramic and handle temp controls manually or 3rd party add on (BBQ Guru). My dad has the Auto-Kamardo and it flashes an ERP error all the frickin time.

I'd save up for a true ceramic Kamado. I bought my Vision Classic from Costco in 2013, use it 2-3x weekly (year round), and outside of new gaskets every year or two and a new daisy wheel, it's still flawless.

The Char-Broiler egg is about the best bang for the buck. Otherwise an actual Kamado Joe is in here all the time around $500.

Agreed. I've had my Vision for about a decade as well. I impress my family and friends with my BBQ "Skills". I wouldn't settle for anything less than an OG ceramic. They're very heavy, like two-person. I saw "Free Delivery" on this post and I just had to click on it to see if it was a ceramic... it's not.

Price is very dependent on size. I have a KJ classic II i think i paid like $800 for a couple years back, and a KJ Jr i think i got for $220, but they go on sale for $299 fairly often (or used to, haven't checked lately)

Is this the insulated grill/kamado like the char griller akron kamado or uninsulated like a Weber ?
